Kitchen Calamity: My Burn Saga

Having worked all day, I lay on my couch hoping to be reenergized after a few minutes of rest. I had planned to write a post after resting, but I wasn't energized when I awoke.

I sat upright, opened my PC and checked my Hive notification to see what they were about, then I checked some communities to see if I could draft a post and publish it, but I just wasn't feeling the energy needed to write, I wasn't getting any inspiration and it was annoying, you know what's worse...It was my hand that was annoying.

As I looked at the injury on my hand and remembered how I sustained it, I felt even angrier. The previous night, I prepared soup, but craved a different staple, semo. Semo isn't something I eat often, but when I do, I usually enjoy it.

On that very day, after successfully preparing the soup, I followed the steps that were written on the pack of the semovita. When I first started boiling the water, I had already poured into it some amount of the semo and waited for it to boil before I addedmore, but when it started boiling, I poured some more and continued mixing it so it would form a smooth thick paste.

As soon as the mixture began to boil, I added more semo powder until it became thick enough. During the preparation of the semo, the hot bubbling semo landed on my skin. I should have run cold water on my hand right away, but I cleaned the burn area immediately.

Because I assumed the semo staple was gummed on my skin, I quickly wiped the area, not realizing that the hot semo had already burned and peeled my skin.

My hand was disfigured because the burn had turned my skin white and it was an open part of my body, making it annoying. I was not bothered by the pain after the burn incident that happened, but the fact that the skin had turned white and had to be exposed made it annoying.

After applying toothpaste to the burned area that day, I was told that it would dry; however, it did not. I went to a pharmacy to purchase GV to cover the wound.

Basically, the injury is still not healed. I was advised earlier today not to use GV or close up to treat the wound and heal it, but instead get a bowl of warm water, add salt to it, and clean up the injury's surface with cotton wool before applying penicillin.

Now that I've got home and settled down, I'm just going to continue taking my vitamin C while applying the penicillin and hope that it heals completely soon.

In summary, I suffered an annoying injury in the course of my cooking. Whenever I go anywhere, people ask me what happened.

Whenever I bathe, I make sure that the area doesn't get wet. I don't have a washing machine, and even with the injury, I can't squeeze the clothes properly.

Accidents like this happen, so I'll be more careful next time.

Ouch! That must have hurt so much! And an injury on a hand is so awful because we need our hands tondo almost everything. I hope it gets better soon dear

Yeah, we need our hands to do everything.... I am also hoping it gets better soon as do what I can to treat it.

Sorry for the Injury, it'll definitely heal. But this is my first time of hearing about applying toothpaste to a burn... strange.

That's what a woman told me. Since I cleaned the area with salt water and applied penicillin, it has been improving.

Sorry about your hand dear, things like this occur so don't think much about it. It wikk heal soon

Try making sure it does not get wet too often. It needs to dry up properly.

This is a scar that all women one way or the other carry, the scar gotten from the battles in the kitchen and not on the battle field....cheers to better health

Battles in the kitchen hehe
Thanks sis

You are welcome 🤗🤗

Oooooh, so sorry about that. Don't worry it will heal soon.
