I think if there’s one question I quite dread to answer, it’s if I’m a movie or a book person. Because I would obviously pick books, but then what about all the amazing shows I’ve seen. I love books, but what about Suits, or We’re the Millers, or Horrible Bosses, or Sista.
I could name at least ten movies and shows at the top of my head that made me so happy, I momentarily forgot that my first love is Books. And a lot of times, books get too intense, the thought of reading it sends me off, so, I’ll pick a somewhat unproblematic movie to see.
How then can I classify myself as a book person over being a movie person?
Maybe it’s because when I think of peace? I think of books. Maybe it’s because when I picture escape from my current reality, I think of books. As much as I love movies, I don’t think of relaxation when I think of them. I think of something I may just want to share with others or on some recommendation from my sister, who is more of a movie person than I’ll ever be. Or maybe it’s because my first port of call when I hear of a really good movie is to ask, “Oh, do you think there’s a book about it instead?”
I guess that’s why I haven’t seen movie productions like “The Hate You Give” and the rest. It’s because I just know that the book will be better, and I’d have a chance to be critical about the movie adaptation. It’s how I felt about the whole Bridgerton series. For someone that had read all eight or nine books in the franchise more than four years before the movie came out, you can be sure that I had a lot of sassy mouth to give concerning the movie series, lol.
When I think of entertainment, I also think of a loved one’s company. I have come to realize that I haven’t been the most lucky with physical friendships. I love interacting with my virtual people who I believe are the best thing to ever happen to me. But then, they aren’t physically present, so in times of longing for physical connection, who would I turn to?
I do have one physical friend I’ve been interacting with a lot in the past months. And when I think of de-stressing in more ways than one, this friend comes to mind immediately. And then I just have to hear my friend’s voice or have physical contact of some form, i.e hugging, and the much guaranteed silly jokes, and I’m entertained, sated, de-stressed and what have you.
But to properly answer the question brought this week by the Ladies of Hive Community...
Are you a “book person” or a “movie person?” Share why you prefer the one you choose. If neither, what person are you for your entertainment time?
I would say that you are not guaranteed to finish books in the one and a half or two hours like you would with a movie, but it is immersive for me in a way that provides the perfect liberating measure. There are some times I stop reading because I guess what I’ve read hit too close to home for comfort, but I guess if the book is invigorating enough, I would still pick it over a movie. Nevertheless, if I hear of a good movie (that someone whose opinion I respect swears by), best believe, I’m leaving the book to see what the movie is about.
But if the movie didn’t meet the expectation, and I had to leave my book for it, well, I will be a bit more than...displeased.
Anyway, lovely talking about this. Speaking of, I have an amazing book I can’t wait to share with you guys. Let me get back to it now.

Such a hard choice. I guess I'd think in bigger terms... If one was totally obliterated from existence, what would you choose? Then it's easy... Books!
I will choose books all day every day. A world without books would sadly be a world without me!
I read Doramas novels like it or not, the visual captivates us, but reading when it becomes habit is hard to leave nice post lot, but I also watch Doramas series
Thank you, Lady. It may not be as descriptive as you would want it to be from the books, but it does try, doesn't it?🌺

You should. It's a brilliant film, and may almost make you want to change the course you studied.😄
Lol, despite your somewhat love for both movies and books, it's quite evidence that you're a true lover of books. And how you just expressed your love for it in this piece is beautiful.
Quite a choice, but it isn't hard for a true book lover like you who also enjoys movies when you can.💗
Exactly. Lovely having you here, friend...🌺
