Hello @sally-notbright. Sounds like 2021 was indeed a stressful year. Sorry to hear about you mother. I used to read a lot, but have slowed down the last several years.
I hope this year is better for you. The fact that you wanted to make a change in your life and do something different shows you are on a different path already. Good luck.
Thanks for sharing. Take care.
Thank you for your kind words, @justclickindiva. Reading slowly brings it's own pleasures I think and can be a lot more mindful in practice. Taking time to fully engage with a book and let it occumpany you through a period of your life for example. I hardly recall any of the plots from the year I was reading fast, I even started to read one book over again!
I hope this year brings you health and happiness also! Take care also x
You know, you're right. Reading slowly or more than once helps you remember the plot, characters, moral, conflict, and message. I love to pick up a book and instantly remember all the details. I may not remember the resolution of the story, but the feeling I get when I pick it up makes me want to place it on the top of the shelf as one of my favorites.
I appreciate your engagement. Have a good start to your week.

Exactly that, I'm currently listening to Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, I read it a few years ago and absolutely adored it. While I still remember some key plot points I'm really enjoying sinking into the character and world of the novel. One of my favourite ways to revisit a novel is through the audiobook.
Have a lovely week as well!
