I really like doing maths to min-max my account. I'm not a rich whale and can only spend a few dollars each week in order to fund my Splinterlands hobby. This can be applied to a lot of aspects in Splinterlands whether you are to focus on Ranked battles, Brawls or Tournaments. These cards will never fail you.

This week's Community Engagement Challenge is about Tournaments. I will let others teach you how to join one and I will help you prepare for it using Rewards cards and Gladiator cards.

Excerpt
This is from the "Congratulations for your 6th Year, Splinterlands!" post on how to maximize your glint to get Rare Summoners for free.

While the new cards are very alluring to complete, except for a few specific cards, only Epic Reward monsters are the only ones really worth getting this season. On the other hand, if you don't want the reward cards, you can always use your glints to get merits for Gladius Cases that contains Gladiator cards.

For more info on how to maximize your gladiator packs, continue reading below.

In this article, I will tell you why Epic Draws are the only draws you should be doing in the new Glint Shop to maximize your limited amount of Glint that you can get each week.

On how to use the Glint Shop, I will provide another post that you can find by clicking the linked image below just to make this article much shorter than I expected it to be.

Epic Rewards

Epic Rewards has all the new abilities.

Epic Rewards monsters are full of both good and bad things but it's the only one that has the new abilities (and debilitations) this season that can make or break your game.

For a quick list of these new abilities and debilitations, Splinterlands made a really good post about this before which you can see here:
https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@splinterlands/reward-cards-update

As a reminder,
Olivia of the Brook has the Mimic ability;
Arachne Weaver has the Corrupted Healing ability;
Thanalorian Blade has the Execute ability;
Night Reaper has the Wingbreak ability.

Olivia of the Brook stats

Epic Rewards has the strongest card in the game.

Olivia of the Brook is a really underrated and overpowered card at the same time. Stat-wise, she is weak. However, like other strong cards like Merdaali Guardian, her strength is more towards her abilities than what her damage can do in the battle.

Mimic

The Mimic ability is the strongest ability in this game. It gives you a lot of leverage and the longer the round is, the higher the chance you can win. This allows her to get good combo abilities on her own such as Life Leech + Heal, Trample + Execute or damage modifying abilities like Inspire and Bloodlust.

Night Reaper stats

Epic Rewards has the ultimate counter in Earthquake Rules of Combat.

Night Reaper is another overpowered but undervalued card in the game but specifically for Earthquake Rules of Combat. Unlike Olivia of the Brook, Night Reaper has high stats and damage but at a cost of higher mana cost as well.

Wingbreak

Nightreaper with Wingbreak ability is a scary combination. This gives her an additional 2 magic damage against monsters with Flying abilities. To make matters worst for your opponents, she prioritizes those Flying monsters and because of her magic damage, her attacks will never miss. But wait, there's more. If she's the last monster on your side of the field, Last Stand activates giving her 50% more stats.

So, with all that extra damage, each round, she can do 4 + 2 + 2 = 8 total sure-hit, no-miss magic damage against Flying monsters each round.

Oh, did I say that Earthquake Rules of Combat requires you and your opponents to use monsters with Flying ability if you don't want to take 2 melee damage at the start of every round?

Legendary Rewards currently don't have any strong monsters except Syrenth.

At first look, I was actually amazed at the new Legendary Rewards set. The new 1 mana cost monsters are really appealing due to their... low mana cost, and there are Taunt monsters as well which is good.

Well, everything was good until I realize that they weren't needed.

You don't use a 1 mana cost monster to carry the game. The others also don't have unique ability combos like Iziar's Taunt-Void combo. It's a good addition but not good enough for me to use 35,000 glint to get a copy when Epic cards only need 7500 glint per Epic draw.

Syrent is an exception with her high health and Taunt ability but right now, Iziar and Wave Brood has the same idea but both of them have Void ability for a sure way of reducing incoming damage.

Common and Rare monsters require more cards to level up.

Common RewardsRare Rewards

There are very few monsters that I consider strong in the new Rebellion Rewards set under the Common and Rare rarities. Right now, it's better to use Chaos Legion monsters or those you can get from the Rebellion packs as your main cards rather than relying on the current Reward cards.

Since only a very few monsters are worth getting in these two rarities, that means it would be harder to get those cards to max it and would take you more pulls to get them than with Epic Draws.

Don't be fooled by my photo above. The reason why I had some of the commons and rares unlocked is because I got them from the chests you can get when you increase your league.

More on Gladius Case / Gladiator Packs

Gladiators are a more powerful, soulbound cards all possessing Bloodlust ability that can only be used in Brawls (aka Guild Battles) or with Summoners with Conscript ability.

Gladius Cases are the name of the pack where you can get Gladiator cards. However, I will be referring to Gladius Case as Gladiator packs for ease of convenience.

Epic Draws and Merits are the only things useful for me this season. When I feel like I've been lacking on my Gladiator monsters, I buy 10x Merits (200 Merits x10 = 2000 Merits) each week which would be equivalent to one Gladiator Pack. Be aware that if you use the Glint shop for Merits, the price of Glints per Merit increases every 10 Merit packs.

Each pack gives you 5 cards, all Gladiator packs, from random rarities. Same with Rarity Draws and Rarity Loots, you can increase your chance of getting Legendary cards by using Legendary Potions and Gold Potions for higher chance of getting Gold cards.

Author's Note Banner.gif

I want to highlight a bit more on a specific card that I mentioned in this article. I may have said that Olivia of the Brook is the best card in the game right now but I didn't elaborate on it, or rather, I didn't gave her the focus she deserves.

Olivia of the Brook is the only card that has the Mimic ability. I already mentioned that. This grants this monster a chance to gain extra abilities starting at round 2. This means that if the game lasted for 20 rounds, she may get an extra 19 more abilities depending on how lucky you are and what your opponents have. Olivia of the Brook may quickly turn the tied of battle by copying abilities like Bloodlust, Void, Shield or even Heal.

Her strength is even reflected by the price she is currently sold on the marketplace which is $2.32 per copy.

Her presence alone is a good reason why you should invest in getting the Epic Draws in the Glint Shop before they change it in the future.

All Reward cards are Soulbound which means you cannot buy it unless it was released. I will make another post about it which you can see by clicking the linked image below just to make this article shorter and more in themed.
