Splinterlands Land expands the game by adding new layers of gameplay. It offers players a way to own, develop and benefit from digital lands in the world of Praetoria. Each land plot holds unique attributes, from terrain type to rarity, resource production and player benefits.

Owning land gives players the chance to farm resources, construct buildings and even produce grain or ore that will have huge effects in the future of the game. By staking their cards on the land, players can optimize resource generation and gives cards that cannot be used in Modern Format a new usage.

Land management also introduces a passive income stream. As resources harvested can be used, sold, or traded. Each plot of land contributes to the owner’s in-game assets, creating a potential new source of income other than battles. While some plots yield rare resources, others hold significant advantages and gets additional rewards. Land in Splinterlands isn’t just an asset. It’s a powerful tool that adds value, strategy, depth and income source to the game.

Step 1: Acquiring Land.

A. Buying Land – Land plots can be bought through the Splinterlands marketplace or from other players. Each plot has unique traits and comes with its own coordinates in Praetoria, the world map. You can also buy totems that may increase land efficiency. You can buy lands and totems from other players here: https://next.splinterlands.com/market/other-items

B. Claiming Your Land – After purchase, you’ll need to redeem it in the game, where you’ll discover the exact location and traits of your plot.

Step 2: Understanding Plot Types.

A. Rarity and Terrain – Each plot has attributes like terrain (e.g., forest, mountain, plains) and rarity, which impact production potential. Each land will yield different resources so choose with care.

B. Types of Resources – Different terrains yield various resources; rarer plots often offer better rewards. Plot types include ordinary land, keeps, and castles, with castles and keeps offering broader regional benefits and command bonuses over multiple plots.

Step 3: Developing Your Land.

A. Building Structures – To get the most out of your land, build structures that gather resources or enhance gameplay. You’ll need DEC (Dark Energy Crystals) or other in-game currencies such as Grain or Time Crystals for construction. The in-game currencies can be bought through the land trade hub or marketplace.

B. Assigning Monsters to Work – Cards, especially monsters, can be assigned to work on the land. The level, rarity and abilities of the monsters affect productivity. This gives strategic value to stronger cards and usage to cards that are now unavailable for play for Modern Format essentially making no cards left unused.

C. Staking Cards to Develop Land

  • I. Staking Your Cards (Monsters) – In Splinterlands, you can stake cards (assign monsters) directly to your land plots kind of employing them as “workers.” Once staked, the cards contribute to gathering resources based on their stats. The stronger, rarer and more leveled-up a card is, the more productive it becomes.
  • II. Selecting the Right Monsters – Since higher-level and rare cards yield better resources, strategically staking your most effective cards is important. You'll have to weigh using your best cards for land productivity versus keeping them available for battles.
  • III. Unstaking for Flexibility – You can also unstake your cards if you want them back for battle or to use on different plots, giving you flexibility based on your priorities.

Step 4: Harvesting Resources.

A. Resource Gathering – Land produces resources that can be used to craft powerful items and spells, which boost card performance during battles. The crafting section using resources isn't applied yet in the game but was hinted when Rebellion was released: https://peakd.com/splinterlands/@splinterlands/the-rebellion-is-coming

"This allows characters to improvise with deadly force, using their gauntlets, shields, helmets, or perhaps physical attributes (spikes, hard shells, etc) as weapons!" There is no "weapons" in the game when this was released. So, it may be included some time in the future and creating those weapons would require Land resources.

B. Trading and Using Resources – Resources can be sold in the land trade hub or kept for upgrading your land by building more structures.

Step 5: Benefits and Gameplay Impact.

A. Earning Potential – Landowners can earn resources that have real value and can be traded for other in-game assets or sold. They can earn resources like Grain and sell them in the trade hub for DEC that can be converted to other crypto such as SPS or Hive.

B. Battle Boosts – Owning land allows you to craft items and spells that grant combat advantages. This means even small plot owners can have significant boosts in battle. However, this has not been applied yet to the game but was hinted in the previous post as mentioned above.

C. Passive Income and Rarity Potential – Rare plots or plots with valuable resources can provide significant ongoing rewards as more players engage in land gameplay. Cards that cannot be used for Modern Format can also be used to improve your land efficiency by staking them.

D. Land ownership in Splinterlands essentially turns into a blend of resource management, strategy and in-game income, all of which adds unique gameplay to your account. This makes Splinterlands a variety of mini games all embedded into one.

Author's Note Banner.gif

Owning and managing land in Splinterlands combines resource gathering, card staking and strategic planning for an enriching gameplay experience. By staking cards on their plots, players can produce resources or items that give them competitive advantages in battle.

The types of resources vary based on plot rarity and terrain. Some plots offering rare benefits and command bonuses. Whether using these resources to trade them on the trade hub or save them for the future, players can grow their in-game earnings and influence. As Splinterlands Land evolves, it brings a unique mix of strategy, investment and adventure to every player’s journey.

Hive Power Up Month Challenge - October 2024 Winners List
Be ready for the November edition of the Hive Power Up Month!

And this game could be played without investing anything? or is such investment mandatory? Thanks for sharing this information, it is quite interesting! 💕

Yes and no.

The initial investment would be buying spellbook ($10) which allows you to play and earn when you play the game. You can then post Splinterlands related stuff and may or may not earn some upvotes from Splinterlands. If you do, you can turn the rewards into DEC, the game currency, to fund yourself playing the game.

Then you also earn another currency called SPS from playing Splinterlands that you can turn into DEC or Hive to fund your Splinterlands account and/or Hive account and just do the cycle.

For the Land, which is a feature of Splinterlands, you need to buy a plot and invest some DEC to make it work.

So, technically, you fund initially, then let it fund itself afterwards. You can check the Splinterlands contest here: https://peakd.com/@splinterlands
