Hi all ๐๐ป
Finally after a few weeks waiting (what felt like agesโฆ to be honest) we received yesterday the wedding photographs, so I can write today my post about our wedding ๐ฐ๐ปโโ๏ธ๐คต๐ปโโ๏ธand stay for a few days in Gibraltar.
I was waiting until I could include a few photographs. As I know some of you are curiousโฆ and were waiting for this post, @chocolatescorpi @silversaver888 @mipiano and @consciouscat.
We went with the car from Spain to Gibraltar, itโs about 1 hour drive from where we live.
Gibraltar is an overseas British territory if you didnโt know and one of the countries where it is easy and fast to get married. As it is rather hard for the last 2 years with the pandemic to get marriedโฆ and many weddings were postponed this is a great option.
๐คฉ And unique at the same time. ๐๐ป๐บ๐ป
We went Wednesday 2 March and came back home Saturday 5 March.
Our Wedding was on Friday the 4th.
I wonโt include photographs of the ceremony at the registryโs office as we had to wear masks and it just doesnโt look niceโฆ we keep those for ourselves.
After the ceremony we went to the Gibraltar Botanical Gardens for our photoshoot and a few streets into the centre of Gib.
We were very lucky with the weather as it rained the days before and afterโฆ
I wanted to include also the following to my post;
3 weeks ago some of you may have seen and read my post about how I created my own dried flowers wedding bouquet, if you havenโt: Here is the link to it ๐, as it is relevant to our wedding and you can see it in the photographs.
Let me show you now first some of our wedding photographs ๐
They are taken by Nelly Castrillo and Andrรฉs from Bodakids Wedding Photographer & Video in Mรกlaga.
I just edited them a bit, as we got them how they were taken. (The photographs are ours now as it was part of their service.)
At the look out.
In the botanical garden.
The wedding bouquet I created, as you can see it matches my dressโฆ we went for a ROMANTIC BOHEMIAN LOOK. The location of this photograph is on the entry steps to the botanical gardens.
At the little pond.
The light wasnโt idealโฆ but we worked with it the best we could.
Then we went into Gibโฆ
In front of the St. Andrewโs Church of Scotland.
In one of the tunnels at Grand Casemates Square.
Yes, this is all from our wedding photoshootโฆ sorry hahaha (almost, 1 more at the end of this post ๐ if you have a look all the way) you know I share my posts with many many many photographs.
I just did not want to overdo it now and show you next also some photos from our explorations in Gibraltar over the days we were there.
Photos are taken with my iPhone 2-5 March 2022.
Day 1:
Look out of the hotel windowโฆ in the distance you can see Algeciras, Spain.
Sunset in the evening as we were getting ready to go out for dinner into the centre.
Along the way we saw quiet empty streetsโฆ
Details and architectureโฆ I liked the light and shadows here and had to share.
Steps and pillars.
In a shop window I saw the moon ๐ and just had to photograph it. I do like the moon ๐ฅฐ
We find an iconic British Mailbox.
And a statue on our way towards the hotel after dinner.
Day 2:
View in the early morning out of the hotel window.
We had to show our original paperwork to the registry office to get married the day after.
Afterwards we went for a stroll through Gibraltar and headed towards the Grand Casemates Square for brunch/lunch.
On a corner of this square we find this signpost. More of them can be found throughout Gib.
On the Square we find these Iconic British Telephone booths. Every tourist visiting Gib will have a photograph of them ๐
The Squareโฆ
You see many terraces from restaurants, luckily not too busy.
A different tunnel to leave this square.
We go through it and wander around.
I see these cute steps.
If I turn around we see the tunnels and the top of Gib mountain / The Rock.
Letโs zoom in a bit, I see a castle.
After we walked for a while we enter the area: Ocean Village. One of the harbours with shops and restaurants. Letโs explore ๐
We find this anchor.
Lots of plants around usโฆ
Restaurants in the water with high towers behind them.
Yachts around us.
View back towards land.
Letโs walk a bit further and cross that little bridge.
Next to it we seeโฆ more boats.
On top of the little bridge.
Walking back I find this bird of Paradise plant.
Back through the tunnels towards the Square.
In the square we find this map of Gib.
As you can see it is not that bigโฆ you see the border with Spain on the left. And it is divided by an airport/ runway.
Yes, if you want to cross into Gibraltarโฆ you have to drive over or walk across the runway. โ๏ธ๐ซ๐ฌโ๏ธ It is quite an experience ๐
We decided to go back to the hotel and have a look at the rooftop and the bar/restaurant there.
Outside on the rooftop we see:
The top of the Rock and all the buildings against it in the back of the hotel.
We walk towards the other side and see:
The mountains of Morocco and Algeciras and the buildings in front of the hotel.
As we walk down some stepsโฆ the back view.
We are just in time inside the restaurantโฆ the sky is getting darker as we look out of the window.
In our hotel room we see the start of the rain a few hours later.
The ships in the distance are putting on lightsโฆ they are waiting for the best fuel prices before they go in to portโฆ
After the rain in the evening we go out againโฆ also to find a nice spot for dinner.
This statue is in front of the hotel.
A little park.
Through it, we find these sun loungersโฆ
Little alleyways.
Day 3; our weddingโฆ it went so fast this day. We will always remember. Party (next month) and honeymoon much laterโฆ when we can travel safely again.
Day 4; we left early Gibraltar.
And on the Spanish side we stop and I take this shot of the Rock before we are heading home.

When you mentioned wedding photos the other day, I thought you meant old ones...but they're new ones with you and a very handsome man in there too...CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN and what a wonderful way to get married during lockdown- a much more memorable occasion than the 'normal' wedding that everyone had pre-pandemic..and in such a gorgeous place too- not only Gib but also the Botanic Gardens...perfect for such a gorgeous couple!

I thought after my divorce many many years ago I would never find love again or even would marryโฆ but here we are. Iโm so happy ๐คฉ
It was just the two of us, due to us living abroad and family couldnโt come. But next months we go and visit them for the first time in over 2 years.

It was the square that got me, so quiet. normally there are loads of tables with people eating and drinking!
Yes the square was so quiet, we have been many times there and it was full. Russell works in Gib so he is 4 days a week there. For the last 14-ish yearsโฆ
Normally it is hard to get a tableโฆ but during our stay. We could choose anywhere. ๐
Yeah I was the same, mobbed everytime I was there. So glad you had a great time and the pick of the place too, pretty damn good. So he does he stay there during the week, or commute daily, be a nightmare commuting during tourist season I would have thought.

Guess whatโฆ he commutes every day (4 times) 1 hour drive, parks his car and cycles inโฆ 15 minutes later he should be at his office depending on border and or flights.
But soon that stops after our โbig next moveโ. Hopefully this year if we get through the paperwork quickly. Canโt tell you where to yetโฆ ๐ planning it since October.
His working in the office changed lately as it was first a remote role, but with Brexit changing everything and he lives in Spain and works in Gibโฆ he needs to be in the office 3,75 days a weekโฆ
And crossing the border is hell at the moment. To many new rules and people at the border not knowing what they are doing.
okay I did think I had picked up from one your posts that he commutes and I thought no way would he drive over the border, so a bike makes sense.
There are times though the crossing is a pain in the butt. The Spanish were notorious for pretending they did not know what was going on, and having delays for well just to have them๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Oh a big move, hmm exciting times ahead๐

I needed to created something with them as with our big move, later this year, no plants are allowed to be shipped/ imported. And now we will remember the roses forever and see them in our wedding photographs.
Gib has beautiful areas and I havenโt shown much of it either. It was great that it was relative quite everywhere as normally it is sooo busy. Hard to get a table in the square. It was the perfect timing in March.
Maybe worth going back one day to explore a bit more. There are direct flights going to it from the UK.
