Location of the mill we find on the following screenshots on google maps:
Zooming out you see where in Scotland 🏴 this place is located:
This Wikipedia page has the following information for you at Preston Mill webpage
“There has been a mill on the site since the 16th century. The present mill dates from the 18th century and is in the care of the National Trust for Scotland. It was used commercially until 1959, and it produced oatmeal. The River Tyne still drives the water wheel, and the machinery can still be seen at work by visitors taking part in a tour.” (source see above’s Wikipedia webpage)

National trust for Scotland has more information for you here : Preston Mill East Linton
As we stayed in this village we walked to the other side of it to see the mill. It was already 18:15h when we reached it so the visitor centre was sadly closed.
We still can enter the side luckily 😁
So let’s walk around a bit.
The entrance is to the right.
There is a large parking lot if you come by car. We see the Mill already.
I love the form it has. 😎 Pretty cool!
Walking over the gravel path…
We see this sign with more information.
…as you can see there is a walking trail in the fields next to the Mill… We have walked a part from it too, back to the village, but I will share that walk in a separate post another time. I want to highlight the Mill now first. The MILL is stunning and deserves a post on its own 😇
On the left we see the visitor centre.
Next to it the MILL. See the little door just under the roof?
As we walk further we can see more angles of the old Mill… to think this one is from the 18th century 🤓
Walking to the back of the mill we see:
Next to the visitor centre there are a few picnic tables… I can imagine in some sunshine it must be a great spot to eat some sandwiches 🥪
View towards both buildings and in the distance the path we walked on coming from the parking area.
Let’s walk further around the mill… towards the #SOUND OF #WATER 🌊
We see the beautiful roofs… the buildings are so well preserved.
This part is attached to the mill with a little bridge… top left in the photo.
Some gates in the river to regulate the flow of the water…
On the back we see the water wheel that turns the mill to grind the #grains 🌾🌾🌾 it is not working now as nobody is here except us 😊
I take a #VIDEO 🎥 so you can #experience what I #see and #hear right now 😁
Have a look on YouTube :
Let me know what you think?
I take a few more captures of the buildings 😊
It would have been amazing if the waterwheel would have been turning…
Next Wednesday I show you the continuation of this walk through the fields in the back… walking by something #special… all the way back to the village. So stay tuned 😁
…and here I say that’s all for today’s post my friends.
Join me next time for more #updates, #adventures, #stories and #photographs 😎👋🏻
