Postcard To My Golden Mother - LOH 185

in Ladies of Hive6 months ago (edited)

After God, the next person who is dear to my heart is my beautiful mother who agreed for me to be formed in her womb, bore all the pains of pregnancy, went through life and death situation and birthed me safe and sound.

How can I describe the unending love of this woman who gave up her youthful beauty in exchange for birthing me and my siblings, sacrificed her life and nurtured me into the woman that I am today. If there is a next life and an opportunity for me to choose a mother, I'll choose you again and again because you're a mother worth having.
I'm sure my birth and that of my last sibling contributed greatly to the health challenge that you are suffering even till date. I am so sorry for causing you this and I promise never to stop taking care of your medical needs.

Mama, when I read the description of a virtuous woman in Proverbs 31, I didn't need anyone to tell me that you were indeed one. With my kid's eyes I saw how you stood by dad as the rock of Gibraltar, toiled day in day out to support him in taking care of the family.
I remember when things were so tough that eating three square meals was like a luxury. But you always found ways to manage the little money dad brings to prepare food. Sometimes you go without food so that your children and husband could have enough to eat. Would I even forget how you would spend almost the whole day at the farm, planting and tending to the crops just so we have alternative food supply. And I'm sure you know my love for gardening was from you, lol.

You thought me this virtue called contentment, Infact yours was of a higher degree. You always say "what I don't have today, I may have tomorrow by God's grace so I won't kill myself for it. Let me manage the one available", and was it. When some other women were borrowing things or buying things on credit, I never saw you do that, even till date. You always managed whatever you had while hoping for the better. Never did I see or hear you quarrel with dad for not buying ntorika or george wrapper and blouse with shoe and bag to match or pancake powder for you, lol. You always managed the Abatex material and skull slippers available.
This seed of contentment you planted in me has grown to bear fruits and become my lifestyle and that will I also teach your grand children..

You are the best mother anyone could ever have, loving, caring, compassionate and accommodating. You treat any child or young one that comes to you as your own child. Little wonder you're called Nne anyị both in the church and neighborhood.
What words will I use to describe this mother who always gave listening ears to me whenever I rant, complain or even talk both sense and nonsense, lol and then give me words of advice that have helped me be a better person in life.

I know sometimes, I made you angry with my hard headedness that you had to punish me which made me cry so much, but you still drew me back to your bosom with your left hand. Sparing the rod and spoiling the child was not in your dictionary as you disciplined me whenever I misbehaved. Your eyes alone spoke enough warning more than words and I understood them all even till date, hehehe.

Mama, if it were possible to bring the stars and moon to you, I would do it. Even if I do, they won't equate your endless love, and sacrifices you made for me right from my birth till now. You read me like a book and knew when I'm sad or hurting and would offer your shoulders or bosom while stroking my hair to make me feel better. My happiness is yours likewise my sadness.

You have stood with dad for over fifty years, giving your all for your children and for the success of your marriage and I pray that you will stay much longer together in peace and love. My greatest wish is for God to still keep you strong, add more years to you so you can enjoy all the fruits of your labor.

I just want you to know that you have groomed a replica of you in me, Infact a higher version, and I will continue to make you proud.
Thank you, Golden Mother for being my mother of inestimable value. I am so proud of you. Loads of love for you ❤️.

This is my entry to the dreemport / ladies of Hive collaboration and a response to the question;

It also coincided with #mayinleo topic for day 12

I appreciate your kind words.

I find Proverbs 31 a testimony of God that a woman has a high calling and values a woman of her virtue over her beauty if I read the entire book of Proverbs accurately. A calling I hope we all should strive for. I love the last shot of the both of you.
Thanks for sharing @luchyl

Very true, the creator gave women a special gift and we should strive to use it well.
