Realizing Monday is my "Real" Day of "Rest"

in Ladies of Hive2 years ago

Sundays are some of the loveliest days that exist.

Sundays are easy going, spirit filled, spent with family and community, and relaxing

Whenever Sundays come to mind. I imagine myself restful, putting my feet up and sipping on a lemonade.

Which is why I decided to start a "Sunday Special" at my "day job"

Everything has been going fine and dandy, except that Sundays are no longer restful.

I don't have to explain to the ladies of hive here that by the time I ... and ... then ...go to the... and help... with... lol

Point is, Sundays are busy.

I was getting ready to complain about it

Until I realized that on Mondays I get to rest.

While most people start Monday Mornings revved up and ready to go. I spend monday mornings as calm as possible.

I take inventory of my surroundings.

I count my loads of laundry.

I count my loads of dishes.

I gauge how long it will take me to take the trash out.

I note the amount of clutter and special areas that need extra attention.

I see my budget. How much leftover food I have. What's in my pantry. What goodies my parents sent me home with ;)

I set my week and double check appointments.

Since I am taking inventory, I am relaxed, and sipping on a coffee.

My kids are on vacation, so this is even more relaxing

But even when they are in school. They KNOW.

Have your clothes ready

Brush Your own hair

Find Something to eat

WAKE MOM UP WE ARE LATE!!

I exaggerate with that last part, but it may as well be that way.

By Monday afternoons I have a plan and am ready to grocery shop

And that to me seems lately, like the most relaxing, amazing way, to spend a day "off."

What's your favorite day?

I seem to have developed a same pattern as yours. My weekends have also become busy since I write the Bro Newspaper and Cine Newspaper. I need to post both the newspapers on Sundays. But also it's the weekend for my partner, which usually means that he's enjoying his hobby (wood working). Typically, he's jumping in every hour to ask me something. It can be that he's proud of something, or that he's doubting something, but whatever it is, it's mostly turning out in me having to admire his work, either work in progress or done.

Take with that, three dogs begging for attention, some household things and my online job that needs to be done.

So yeah, I have started to have my weekend also on Mondays. And sometimes also on Tuesdays, like today. Although, I am now working on an offline assignment, which is not really celebrating weekend.

mostly turning out in me having to admire his work

😍

Extending my weekend into Monday Mornings sure has done wonders for my mental well being.

Your partners wood working sounds... a bit draining actually. hahaha. I feel pretty mean when my kids (or husband) want to show me something from their phone.

I dislike looking at other people's phones, especially if I am not holding them, as it makes me dizzy when they wiggle it.

But, I am guessing, I wouldn't want to see woodworking in action.

"Oh yes dear, I can totally tell you chiseled more to the left"

As far as the newspaper

Are you telling me that the report about working in your underwear and all us guessing what color it was - was you?

HAHAHAHAHAHA

It was in the bro newspaper some weeks back.

Hilarious.

Lol. Now you left me wondering which Bro Newspaper you're talking about ... I can not remember something like that. But working in my underwear is not me. Nope! Not going to tell you how I am working on the Bro Newspaper, but it's not in my underwear.

But I have to admit @metzli, you are making me curious if that is maybe the way you are working your 'day job'? And be careful with your answers because you know by now that I love some good gossips 😉

ahaha.

Oh man, now its going to bug me.

I can usually tell who is writing the post, even if it is a "newspaper" based on the writing style and the comments.

This time I swore it was written by @raymondspeaks and they were saying that it was so hot they were working in their underwear.

They even asked in the comments what color they were.

I didn't get confused until this last comment you made about you writing the newspaper.

Maybe its a different newspaper! I read a lot of them.

But, you must know I am laughing over here.

TWO Stars - this psychic was way off...

@hetty-rowan I found it:

https://www.neoxian.city/@neoxiancity/neoxian-city-weekly-paper-2022-06-19

It was neoxian newspaper, I got confused.

In case you need it for your gossip column, his skeevies were gray.

Ewwwwwwww.

Someone won 20 HBD for knowing that (I hope it was 20 neoxian. hahaha)

When you said that you were sure @raymondspeaks wrote it, I already thought it had to be the Neoxian City Paper. I know Ray is writing that one.

Oh, uh, I think I can make something out of that. Honestly, I expected his skeevies to be worth more. But yeah, gray ... 😱

Tonight I'm wearing black and blue spots if it helps you hahaha

I don't know if its interesting enough for the gossip column, but I'm sure its been noted either way.

!lolz

Well good on you that you´re at least still wearing one, even though the heat is killing you 😇

Nice one 👍

Thank you.

Hahahaha... I know right. Most places in the world begin with a busy Monday. However, when you don't do an office job things can be different.

I begin some Mondays with extra sleep. My favorite day is Sunday. Although, I am trying to create a timetable that would make life a bit stressful for me.

Did I read correctly? You are currently creating more stress?

Phew, lets not!

I will create more peace too :)

I love fridays! You cant beat that friday feeling! 😎

Friday's are great, I like how I spend my time on Fridays.

But still, not matter how much I enjoy my time, it is pre-determined that I will be busy.

Enjoy your Monday!
I don't really have a favorite day. But in summer time I don't like the weekends. I like my calm and peace and the weekends here in summer time are disturbed by tourists. Don't get me wrong, I know they worked hard during the year and want to have a great time on their holiday. But I prefer the rest of the year. I'm not moaning, I'm happy for them!

Well... It is kind of the same as why my Sundays are not so relaxing.

I want My Tourists (my kids) to enjoy their weekend, and an enjoyable weekend for children is full of the mom coming up with meals, keeping them entertained, and ubering them around.

I totally enjoy their enjoyment.

But like you, I understand what it means for me.

<3

Hahahhahaha! I had to laugh when you call your kids "Tourists". Make sure you tell then in the evening: "Don't forget to tip the guide" 😉😁

ahahaha.

I do make them give good night hugs and kisses...

Perfect tipping!!!

I love Friday, I used Friday to relax because the remaining weekend is to take care of the house and prepare for the new week.

I tried to do things your way. Preparing for the week on Friday, starting the work on Saturday, carving in a "quiet" Sunday.

However, no matter how many times I tried, my natural rhythm always leads to Mondays full of stuff to do - or like I am starting to choose, full of things to schedule to do on the rest of my week.

Thanks for your comment :)

You welcome

I love Mondays, too. It's my day. I like Tidy Fridays - they're for errands and tidying up and finishing off.

What's your favorite day?

Well for sure it's not Monday, it is stuck in my memory. Now I don't have to do anything special on Mondays but in the past, I had to get up early to go to school after 2 free days, then later in life, I had to get up early to go to work....Nowadays I don't have to go anywhere that early but every day I wake up even earlier because I enjoy it, I guess I'm getting old. 😁

Voted on ListNerds!

Yes, its that memory of school and work that kept me from recognizing how much I love Mondays.

Thanks for stopping by.

Thank you!

The important thing is that you take a day to yourself. That is good.
Mine I would say is Sunday as it is generally laid back and my kids and grandkids come over. That is always sweet.

Sunday's are still my favorite. My parents make Sunday Dinner for me and the kids and they usually make sure it is something delicious.

Monday has been my day for a long time because I serve in my church in the children's and music department, and that is WORK. Often I am preparing on Saturday.

The more I read these answers the more it seems like there are those of us who have easy Sundays, and those of us who make Sundays easy.

Exactly ... that is exactly what is going on...
