RE: The Controversial Garment

in Ladies of Hive2 years ago

I laughed when I saw this. What woman doesn't share this sentiment? I've never been sold on the support aspect, muscles matter and age does no one favours. Bodies do indeed change.

The difficulty with purchasing any ready-made garment, is they are made according to set patterns, which varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, so even if you know your size accurately, there's still frustration in fitting.

Your post resonated with me because I've been thinking about this for several months to the point that I'm motivated to going back to making my own, but something different, haven't settled on the exact design as of yet. I'd go without, but exercising without is not a fun experience (unless swimming, yeah that's a lot of fun). Never have found a sports bra that was workable either.

In Canada, it's legal for women to go topless outside for many years, same sort of idea as men without shirts, but for whatever reasons, women just don't want to do that.

That's true!... and another thing is that you need to have so many different styles of Bras for different outfits.

Haha! As a teenager, I reserved the bra for when i add intentions of running, and I stopped running because of the discomfort I felt from my breast.
I think the problem with the sports bra is that band and the cup/frame seldom correspond, and there's no way to adjust the band, so I get what you experience.

😲I didn't know that about Canada. Hmm, maybe that's the place to be.😁👌

Hahaha, yes, different styles for different outfits. I've made them before, so I have everything to do so again, once I settle on designs, something that doesn't feel like a torture device, lol.

Have you ever tried on a real antique corset? A friend of mine helped me do that one time. Made me grateful that I don't have to wear such a beastly thing.

I'm not so sure Canada is the place to be, but there are some beautiful spots here. I've yet to see a woman go topless here, despite it being legal for many years now.

For sure! I really like the idea of making my own bra too, thanks to you and another comment 😍

Have you ever tried on a real antique corset?

No, I haven't! However, I assisted a friend in getting into one, and it was painful enough to just watch her squeezing into it. Definitely torture in my view too 😏

I'm sure you could do it. Might take some time and practice but definitely doable and you can do whatever you want, no limits!

Hahaha! So you assisted a friend getting into one of those contraptions and know. Yes, painful indeed and absolutely torture. For my friend and I, it was worth all the laughter the whole time.

I bet it was 🤣

... and I can't wait to check out some fabrics and ideas to start :))

It was, but everyone outside the change room must have thought us crazy once we came out and we saw them staring.

So many fabrics, you could have a lot of fun with it. 😁

You paint a vivid image there 🤣
