Few years ago when I was fully working in an office, the work environment is the type that promotes sedentary challenges. Most days, I found myself sitting for hours, striving to work on many files on my table to avoid unnecessary query from the MD.
I had insufficient time for an exercise except during lunch time when I walk to the office kitchen to refuel my energy and maybe the little turning back I do to scan a document or make a photocopy but most of my time I do spend from 9 to 5 was sitting at a spot. I was adding weight unnecessarily, accumulating lots of cholesterol without an activity to burn them, lol
To be sincere, I only complained about the negative effects I usually experienced those days but never did anything about it until I resigned and started working from home.
Then I realized that most of those symptoms I usually have while in the office, I was still experiencing them sometimes at home whenever I stayed glued to my gadgets for hours working without any other activities in between. The first symptom that was severe was this terrible back pain I experienced. It was worse because I don't even have an office chair at home that is more comfy than the normal dining chair I use in my home. I think my posture was bad enough to start disturbing my back. I didn't hesitate to report myself to my uncle, a medical doctor, and he asked me some questions, after which he advised that I deploy breaking my work hours no matter how much I try to meet up with a deadline.
What happened was that, since my kids leave for school by 7 am and return by 3 pm, I try working for long hours so I can finish all pending virtual tasks for the day before they arrive and make the whole home rowdy, lolz. This is one challenge I face with my kids working remotely, but then, it's a bad habit and unhealthy for me to sit at a spot for hours. I also noticed swellings on my legs and toes and inadequate blood flow, which makes it difficult for me to walk at a point. All these have been my sedentary challenges, but then, I have inculcated some hacks and exercises to reduce them and not compromise my health.
One of the effective tactics I have been observing as to combat sedentary habits is scheduling my movement breaks just the same way I schedule my work tasks. So instead of working straight four to five hours, I work for like two hours and attend to maybe laundry or other chores at home that require that I move around and get my muscles stretched; otherwise, I will be experiencing stiffness or low blood circulation, causing me pains in my legs.
I also don't hesitate to hydrate my body always while working
It doesn't end with regular drinking of water, but mostly, I add healthy snacks like any kind of fruit within my reach so as to maintain my energy level and without feeling so much tired from mental exertion.
These are the few hacks and exercises I do to reduce sedentary challenges and improve my overall well-being while staying productive.
I hope these tips help you too.

That's right about our health
Thanks for the warm feedback 🤗
I think we need to be concerned about our health also. A few months ago I felt pain in back side because I spent too much time sitting in front of the computer. Later I decided to do some tasks on my mobile by lying down and it was good strategy for me.

Yea..I remember lying down more when I had back pain and it solved the issue a bit but then it made me fall asleep so quickly while on duty 😃😃
