I wouldn't say I'm proud of my eating habits and lifestyle. There is a lot that needs to be changed, especially my sleeping routine. It takes a lot to go towards all healthy eating habits. But slow progress is something that I'm into because that seems achievable to me for now.

I have been struggling with some health issues and taking a lot of different steroids. On top of that, after my leg was broken last year and with limited physical activities I have gained a few pounds. Also, it hampers my eating habits because I needed snacks and junk to comfort me.

However, in the last few months after recovering; I'm taking a lot of self-care, and building a better eating habit is one of them.

The question is can I call it healthy eating or not? Well, to be very honest with you, I would still not call it one but I would say I'm gradually progressing.

Let me share what I usually eat a day and it will help you to understand.

Lunch

My day starts at 5.30/6 am, after taking my morning medicine by 7 am I take one cup of raw tea and a half-boiled egg. Then sometimes by 9/10 am, I do another breakfast with flat bread with my family but most of the time skip that.

Dinner

By 1/2 pm I finish my lunch with just a cup of rice and some curries. Then in the afternoon some light snacks and then at night usually just the protein/curries or sometimes with rice and curry.

There's no specific self-care routine that I follow every single day. But there's something specific I do for myself to stay healthy.
  • I eat 95% homemade, freshly cooked meals, usually made by me.
  • I take raw tea, lemon tea, and black coffee and never add sugar; sometimes only 'zero cal' sugar. I said goodbye to sugar for the last 3 years.
  • I add a lot of protein and minimal carbs to my daily diet.
  • I have reduced my fast food intake a lot; not more than once or two times a month.

But is that all? No, I crave a lot of snacks in between my meals. Sometimes I cheat too and have to deal with aggressive eating. But then, for the next few days, I try to detox. This happens at least once a month.

Also, I crave a lot of deep-fried food. From our local Pakoras to chips. I can't help but sometimes go for it. I wouldn't say, I tend to eat whatever I feel like but sometimes I fail to resist myself. And yes, also cakes; it's not always easy to say no.

If I were the judge, then I would give myself a 7 out of 10 in healthy eating habits. Now you say, what your rating would be?

I know, I'm not perfect and need a lot of change. The good thing is I'm aware, ready for a change, and making slow progress. I hope it will be steady so I can be proud of my eating habits.

A 7 out of 10 rating is more than good enough but of course, we all strive to be perfect so I think you're good.
Eating healthy also brings some kind of joy to oneself.
Thanks for sharing this with us.

Well, I rated myself a bit generously. Lol But believe me, it wouldn't be less than 6.5 ☺️

Thanks ☺️

Your eating habit is not too bad or should I say much better than mine.

Cutting down on sugar, fast foods and reducing carbohydrates are good habits for your diet, I wish you well with your health,
