Galata Tower is one of the first places that come to mind when it comes to places to visit in Istanbul.
Galata Tower, which is a touristic place that offers the opportunity to see the most beautiful views of the city, is one of the symbols of Istanbul, which is frequently visited by both local and foreign tourists.
Galata Kulesi, İstanbul gezilecek yerler denilince ilk akla gelen yerlerden birisidir.
Galata Tower is located in the Galata section of the Bereketzade District, in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul.
Galata Tower was first built by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian in 507 508 AD. The present tower was rebuilt by the Genoese in 1348 49. The tower was raised between 1445 and 46. It was damaged by the earthquake in the 1500s and was repaired by Architect Murad bin Hayreddin. After the tower was repaired during the reign of Selim III, a bay window was added to the upper floor of the tower. In 1831, the tower suffers another fire, Mahmut the Second rises two more floors and the top of the tower is covered with the famous cone-shaped roof.
On top of that, the building was last repaired in 1967.
Galata Tower has a legend;
According to the legend, Galata Tower and Maiden's Tower are in love with each other, but the Bosphorus between them prevents lovers from meeting. He writes his love for Galata Tower in letters for years and tells about his love for Maiden's Tower. When Hezarfen Ahmet Çelebi goes here to realize his dream of flying, Galata Tower whispers his love for Maiden's Tower in his ear and gives the letters to him. Taking the wind blowing from Istanbul behind him, Hezarfen delivers the letters to the Maiden's Tower. Realizing that her love is not platonic, Maiden's Tower is very happy. This love of these two lovers for each other makes them challenge the centuries and creates the most beautiful view of Istanbul.
Galata Kulesi'nin bir efsanesi vardir;
*As Bedri Rahmi Eyüpoğlu said; "When I think of Istanbul, I think of towers, every time I draw one, the other gets jealous, but if this Maiden's Tower had a mind, they would reach the Galata Tower and have many children."
Maybe they couldn't, but we went there, got married and we have a sweet daughter. 👨👩👧💜💐*
