Market Friday: Day of the Dead

The Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday celebrated in Mexico of All Saints Day and All Sous Day on November 1st and 2nd!

On my way home today I came across a small market place celebrating the Day of the Dead by showcasing and selling of hand made products.

So I stopped by to check it out!

Do you notice a certain theme going in here?

There was food too!

And other products as well.

And Halloween décor.

And crafts such as paintings!

I could not go home without obliging the lady selling her painting. I had to buy something!

Very themed toward both celebrations, not celebrated here except with some of the teenagers now. Some nice silver looking jewellery on display thought you would hone in on that, no it was a painting!

Do you notice a certain theme going in here?

Based on the title, I thought that this will be zombie themed, but the skulls and other literally death related things will still do. Things related to the nearby holiday.

By the way, we (Hungarians) also celebrate both the All Saints Day and the Day of the Dead. I just have not thought that a market will be related to this. At least we usually just (quietly) visit our dead relatives and friends in the cemetery with some candles, flowers and wreath.

How very festive @silversaver888, all Saints Day, and all Souls Day are very big up here with the Spanish community! I remember having Mass with dozens of photo's of deceased parishioners family members surrounding the Altar at Church!😀

Ah... the photos are a Catholic tradition!
This Day of the Dead is almost a pagan practice, I think, and truly unique.
No such celebration in the Catholic Church, haha 😄
