Plants Update: Orchids, Rose, Vegetables,

in Ladies of Hive3 years ago

I have one orchid still blooming... smiling at me everyday! Except for one flower at the back, the rest of the flowers will last for a couple of weeks more.

All other orchids are finished blooming and ready to be pruned.

Do you know what I do with the orchid flowers?

I pressed them in between my notebook and dry them.

The tree rose is getting ready for the next bloom of flowers! One rose flower is left, with many flower buds on the stem of the plant.

I look forward to its flowers. There are fresh shoots too. Hopefully, they will develop into flower buds.

The Canna Lily is growing... I don't know if it will flower, hehehe!

We shall see. Only time will tell!

The eggplants are non-stop!

I harvested numerous eggplants from these two pots. I got more eggplants from these two pots this year than the previous year.

It continues to flower!

And now for the okra.

Oh... my precious okra!

It is flowering, but something is eating the leaves!

I looked all over for some pest, but see none!

HELP!!!

What is eating the leaves of my okra plant?

At any rate, I planted new seedlings of okra. Just in case.

I shall not be defeated!

😍#ilikeitalot!😍

I hope you find out what is eating your okra plants @silversaver888. I have seen this before but I have no idea what it could be..
Isn't it interesting that as one type of plant like your orchid ends it's blooming, other plants are just starting! A continuous supply of flowering plants for your enjoyment so very nice! 🤗

Could it be slugs? But it hasn't been raining here!
Oh well, it is gone now!
I did not think of it that way!
You are right!
Continous flowers till November!!!

Continuous beauty @silversaver888, Sometime I need to figure out how to plant so that we have something blooming all Summer!😀

You have quite the green thumb there, sis! I don't know what's eating your okra; wish I could help with that.

Are you able to grow veggies all year long, or does it get too cool where you are, to do that!

Thanks for sharing your garden! Take care sis!💕😘🤗🌸

Three months December to February, no more vegetables outside. It gets too cold for the plants. I try to plant green onion and herbs during winter.

Hugs and Kisses sis 🥰🌺🤙!!!!

9 months out of the year isn't bad, though! Not so much here!May-September with mostly harvesting in the fall. Enjoy your garden sis!😘🌸💕🤗

There is so much to do!!!
But I am enjoying my surroundings!
Thank you sis! Have a great Sunday 😘🌸💕🤗

Plants and flowers are looking healthy, perhaps night time visitors enjoy the okra plant 😁

Green fingers, you plant them they grow, many of mine are failures, but started seeds again during the week, let's see how they go/grow this time.

Drying flowers out a good way to preserve them, potpourri for months when no flowers are available.

Having plants and flowers keeps me busy!
Not that I have nothing to keep me busy, hahaha 😜.
Not too much though... just enough.
Yeah... must be a caterpillar or a bug!!!
Where is it??? That thief in the night!!!
Exactly! Dry Potpourri!
Several more days of drying will do it.
I'll try to get some fixatives and essential oils.
These orchid flowers are practically odorless.
I think they make good potpourri.

Making use by recycling plants brings lovely aroma into the home, lifts the spirit too. Poor little blighter sneaks in at night may be a slug known to be night time invaders. Have a great day, good to see you keeping out of mischief, putting yourself into gardening and all other things to keep active 😄

Yeah, I am finding that I want my time to myself.
I have said "NO" on 3 occasions this month, except for the wedding anniversary this coming weekend.
I want to be alone by myself lately.
Maybe because we have been so inundated at work this month 😁!

Between bookkeeping, blogging and bullshit around, absolutely need some time alone to veg out on my own sounds so goooood! Well make the most of it, at least you know how to say NO 🤣, suppose it keeps us on our toes being busy.

Ummm... do you think I am getting old 😏?!

We aging as we chat.... 😜

@tipu curate

Thanks, @robibasa, for the tip!
It is much appreciated!

Why do you press the orchid flowers against your note? Any special reason?

Our okra had similar experience last year but after it had bloomed and we had harvested lots of okra from it.

Well, it is the only available device at the time, hehehe 😜.
Because it stains, I use the same page of my notebook every time!
pressedflowers.jpg

I'll make them into potpourri!
I don't think the flowers of the okra are affected, thank goodness!
I look forward to tasting okra from my potted vegetable garden for the first time.

Okay.

What's a potpourri?

I hope you love the okra :)

Oh, a potpourru is a mixture of dried petals and spices placed in a bowl or small sack to perfume clothing or a room.
I like it okra... breaded and fried, sauteed with garlic and soy sauce ... and pickled!

Oh wow.. thanks for the explanation.

Oh, you're welcome!😀

I'll save you all of my spent flowers so that you can dry the properly for me. hehe. Thanks.. they are in the mail.

So sad to see them die off, but new ones on their way, and sooner if you ever trim the dead spikes back. lol just giving you a hard time for the fun of it! 😁

Hehehe 😝😜. I've been experimenting! One guy says don't trim the dead spikes!
