The clouds have covered our California sun and it is rather "gloomy" when I took these photos.
I am approaching my house ... the one in the middle.
Let me park my car, and I will show you the rapid development that is happening just next to my house!
All through the summer months, they have built three model homes and a sales office, and development is going on...non-stop!
This used to be acres and acres of farmland.
2.2 million square feet of business park, commercia/retail user and acres of cutting edge green new homes will be built around the Research and Technology Park.
It is a huge development and with homes and shopping centers.
Here is a schematic:
The Research and Technology Park Specific Plan is envisioned as a new technology hub for the City, intended to serve an array of research and technology companies interested in locating and growing near UC Davis and other research and technology institutions within the Sacramento region. Consisting of approximately 350 acres, the Research and Technology Park is proposed as a new type of employment center that also includes a range of housing options, a commercial mixed-use town center focused around an 11-acre linear park and connected by a multi-modal street network and pedestrian and bicycle trail system.
Companies locating in the Tech Campus will have the opportunity to take positive advantage of the existing and thriving seed, food, and agricultural-based industries currently located and doing business in and around the City. And access to additional resources and new markets, new ideas, materials and expertise will grow through strategic partnerships with new and existing businesses.

How sad the farmland is no more, similar happened here where we enjoyed the open green space now built with light industry.
All the small animals disappeared. If not properly designed and thought out, flooding starts when heavy rains arrive, I do hope it is not the case here!
Perhaps time to move, seeking silence and more solitude, I know we are as soon as the sons have made it to live overseas where they may have more opportunity in life itself.

Yes, when retirement comes, which is barely 21 years from now, I will be moving to a better location!
We are talking of the move, time is right too much change in originally a small coastal town. Retirement, what is that no time to sit idle if that's what you mean... 😁
I don't see myself idle, hahaha.
Anyway, that some 20 years away, if retirement age is still the same.
Even when one steps into 'retirement' you never have enough hours in the day, much to do for those who keep active.

I hardly hear anything as my house seems to be soundproof and I take walks away from my neighborhood.

Sounds like it will be a busy area for sure! The drawing of the finished area reminds me of one close to Bellingham-Barkley Village. It has a lot of businesses; some research, a huge cinema and grocery. Also some quaint small business and of course, restaurants.

I enjoy our country living with neighbors you can't see, even though we are all friends! I don't think I would like living in a somewhat business development as for me, it would bring too much noise. Yes, it will be good. It is not an ordinary neighborhood, as far as I can see.
Currently, the homes in my neighborhood are 100% efficient, and I have to see what they are planning for the new homes.
Sounds great and I am sure it will be a nice neighborhood. I really hate when a neighborhood gradually turns into a commercial zone, it happens mostly in developing countries due to land scarcity...
