1️⃣ Christmas is a time when we usually eat a lot, at least in my country (Venezuela). Show us beautiful photographs of the typical dishes you prepare for Christmas dinner or to welcome the new year, and what is your favorite?

En esta ocasión desarrollaré la primera y hablaré sobre nuestra rica comida navideña.
Mi país, Venezuela, tiene muchas bondades, entre ellas una gran variedad de sabores en sus platos, capaces de complacer, incluso, a los paladares más exigentes.
Nuestro plato navideño no es la excepción, de hecho, es uno de mis favoritos, yo podría comerlo todo el año, nunca me canso de él.
El menú navideño tiene: Hallacas, pan de jamón, ensalada de gallina o pollo y pernil de cerdo al horno. Una diversidad de sabores en un solo plato y yo disfruto mucho el contraste de lo dulce con lo salado.

This time I will develop the first one and talk about our delicious Christmas food.
My country, Venezuela, has many good things, among them a great variety of flavors in its dishes, capable of pleasing even the most demanding palates.
Our Christmas dish is no exception, in fact, it is one of my favorites, I could eat it all year long, I never get tired of it.
The Christmas menu has: Hallacas, ham bread, chicken salad and baked pork leg. A diversity of flavors in one dish and I really enjoy the contrast of sweet and savory.
You can see what this delight looks like, in the following picture of the Christmas lunch I had with my office colleagues.
Mi almuerzo navideño con mis colegas / My Christmas lunch with my colleaguesNuestras navidades de los últimos 8 años, las hemos celebrado en casa de mi suegra, porque mi familia está fuera del país.
Mi suegra y mis cuñados, normalmente preparan las hallacas y la ensalada de pollo, mientras que a mi esposo le toca la parte más fácil: el pan de jamón y las gaseosas.
Normalmente mi suegra prepara también el pernil al horno, pero esta vez no lo hizo. Igual nosotros lo vemos como algo opcional, porque aún sin ese elemento, el plato es perfecto.
For the last 8 years we have celebrated Christmas at my mother-in-law's house, because my family is out of the country.
My mother-in-law and my brothers-in-law usually prepare the hallacas and the chicken salad, while my husband does the easy part: the ham bread and the sodas.
Normally my mother-in-law also prepares the baked pork leg, but this time she didn't do it. We still see it as optional, because even without that element, the dish is perfect.
Mi cena navideña de este año / My Christmas dinner this yearPara quienes no lo saben, las hallacas se preparan a partir de una masa de harina de maíz amarillo, que se extiende en una capa delgada y se rellena con un delicioso guiso de carne ( de res, pollo y/o cerdo), además se le añade aceitunas, uvas pasas, alcaparras y otros ingredientes de acuerdo a la zona, por ejemplo, mi suegra le coloca, pimentón, papa y huevo en ruedas, mientras que mi familia paterna y materna no les colocan ni huevo, ni papa.
For those who do not know, hallacas are prepared from a yellow corn flour dough, which is spread in a thin layer and filled with a delicious beef stew (beef, chicken and/or pork), olives, raisins, capers and other ingredients are added according to the area, for example, my mother-in-law adds paprika, potato and egg wheels, while my paternal and maternal family do not add eggs or potatoes.
Es una comida que normalmente nadie prepara en otra época del año, sólo en la decembrina, aunque ya desde noviembre (o quizás octubre), comienzan a comercializarlas y puedes comprarlas.
Les cuento que a mis hijos no les gusta el plato navideño, ellos cenaron pasticho (lasaña), que su abuelita les preparó con mucho amor y que es su comida favorita.
A ellos sí le gustan la hallacas, pero cuando es preparada sólo con el guiso de carne, sin aceitunas, pasas, alcaparras, papa... es decir, sin ninguno de los elementos que lleva una hallaca, así que no la comen, a menos que se les preparen unas especiales para ellos. Su abuela normalmente se las hace, este año no lo hizo, sin embargo, los consintió con algo que les gusta mucho más.
Mientras tanto, mi esposo y yo fuimos felices con nuestra típica cena navideña.
Cada año agradezco a Dios por la bendición de tener ese plato en nuestra mesa.
It is a food that normally nobody prepares at any other time of the year, only during the Christmas season, although since November (or maybe October), they start to sell them and you can buy them.
I tell you that my children don't like the Christmas dish, they had pasticho (lasagna) for dinner, which their grandmother prepared for them with much love and which is their favorite food.
They do like hallacas, but when it is prepared only with the meat stew, without olives, raisins, capers, potatoes? that is, without any of the elements of a hallaca, so they don't eat them, unless they have special ones prepared for them. Meanwhile, my husband and I were happy with our typical Christmas dinner.
