I also know, as someone who has first-hand experience of this, that there needs to be education in schools from a very early age about how to treat each other, how to speak our boundaries, how to love yourself enough that you see early warning signs and can change your situation before things escalate.
I don't know the global statistics and how different these rape situations are in different countries but here in Australia (and I think it's similar in many of the so-called "western countries" or "first world countries") mostly rape happens quietly, behind closed doors, in the form of date rape (being assaulted by someone who you were romantically interested in but realise along the way that you don't actually want to have sex with them, but when you try to say 'no' they ignore you).
Here's to the entire world moving towards greater kindness and greater respect for all other humans and their bodies. 🙏
