Hello, ladies!
How are you all doing?
It's a pleasure to write again.
In this article, i will be giving my response to the Loh #224 that reads;
For those who would rather read than write, what are your current favorite book reads for that little "mental escape" or enlightenment? What got you into this book and why?
I must start out writing this by stating sincerely that I don't read so much. If they aren't academic books or articles necessary for a particular project, I rarely read them.
However, I would consider myself more a reader than a writer. You could say that I suck at both, and you'll be right.
Still, I have this one book that I crawl to every time I feel bored, exhausted, at times when I need to cheer up and just about anytime. It's the book Born a crime, by Trevor Naoh. My friend, @cheeamaka, was the person who recommended it to me, saying it was 'everything/every emotion in one book.'
It was/is her mental escape novel just as it has become mine. I don't have a hard copy of it since I read it online.
The book tells the story of Trevor's childhood and being born in a time of apartheid. It explores themes of identity, language, family, and humor. The relativity and humor in this book are what draw me in.
I could read this a dozen times over and not get bored of it. So much education, information, and naughtiness in one book. There's a lot to learn in it and so much comfort in the pages. I love it.
It's been my go-to and easy-reach for a while now, and i ront see that changing soon.
Until next time...BYE
I should put this title on my Read List, my family is mixed race and I can relate to the story's protagonist. South Africa politics at that time is crazy, I still think it's still crazy with even more troubles than before. It would be tough growing up there.
