It’s been a long week, it was the last week of school holidays and time does fly by.
My eldest was put into vacation care for most of the school holidays but my youngest was mostly home.
Last week we celebrated and also said farewell to my youngest’s daycare.
He didn’t like going anymore and he preferred preschool.
The kids were too noisy and sick all the time, the teachers didn’t have enough attention for him and he was so upset at each drop off (he wasn’t like this before as he had been there for almost 2 years) so we noticed something must have been upsetting him.
We realised there have been too many changes and his favourite teacher had left.
So I put in the two weeks notice and let the director know (she was also new and he didn’t like her either)
Before we made that decision his favourite teacher happened to reply to a message of mine and she had said she wanted to come visit the centre in the next two weeks, so I followed up to clarify and told her he was leaving.
She was sad and said she will definitely make it to see him for the last time!
She did make it!
That was so special!
There aren’t many teachers like these and mutually favourite for both student and teacher haha..
Here are some photos I took of the event:
To be honest we had wanted to leave for a while because the care wasn’t the best and the environment was often a bit suffocating and stressful, but when that favourite teacher came in she made everything amazing and did so much for the centre. So once she left everything wasn’t the same anymore. All the pets she brought in had died or run away. There was no more of that to come either. I could see things deteriorating fast and he wasn’t happy.
So I told him we don’t have to go anymore. He can say bye bye.
I took him shopping to get some farewell presents and it helped him process it further.
I helped him make some personalised cards and printed some polaroids for them to remember.
We made the right decision as he was constantly mentioning that he was leaving and counting down the days but of course it was also sad to say goodbye - actually the teachers and his friends were a lot more sad as they missed him.
It was a good first experience for him and his favourite teacher now even follows us on social media to keep up with him haha 😉
