Hello there!
I’m Mide, a femininity enthusiast who believes femininity is so much more than looking pretty or “acting” elegant. For me, it’s a journey of self-awareness and self-confidence, embracing all the strengths and weaknesses that make you uniquely you. Because let’s face it, true beauty shines brightest when it comes from within.

Becoming self-aware, and in turn self-confident, is a deeply personal journey. But don’t worry, my mission is to make that journey shorter, simpler, and way more enjoyable for you!
Let’s talk about one of the first steps: understanding your physical self.

What’s Your Body Type?

Here are the five main female body types, their characteristics, and how to dress for each one:


  1. Hourglass
    Characteristics:
    • You have a well-defined waist, with bust and hips of nearly equal measurements.
    • Naturally balanced proportions and a curvy silhouette much like a hourglass.
    Dress Tips:
    • Fitted clothing like belted or wrap dresses to highlight your waist.
    • High-waist pants and skirts.

  1. Pear (Triangle)
    Characteristics:
    • Your hips are wider than bust and shoulders.
    • You have a defined waist and a more prominent lower body.
    Dress Tips:
    • A-line skirts and dresses to balance the hips.
    • Tops with boat necks or off-shoulder styles to draw attention upward.

  1. Apple (Round)
    Characteristics:
    • You have broader shoulders and bust, with a less-defined waist.
    • You have slimmer legs and a tendency to gain weight around the midsection.
    Dress Tips:
    • Empire waist dresses to create the illusion of a longer torso.
    • Flowy tops and V-necklines to balance proportions.

  1. Rectangle (Athletic)
    Characteristics:
    • Your shoulders, bust, and hips are almost uniform in measurement.
    • You have minimal curves, with a straighter silhouette.
    Dress Tips:
    • Ruffles and frills to add volume and create curves.
    • Belted dresses for a defined waist.
    • Layering different textures for added depth.

  1. Inverted Triangle
    Characteristics:
    • You have broad shoulders and a wide back, with narrower hips.
    • Mostly have slender legs and a less-defined waistline, others have slimmer waist.
    Dress Tips:
    • A-line skirts and wide-leg pants to balance proportions.
    • V-necklines to soften the look of broad shoulders.

A Practical Exercise
Here’s a quick activity to kickstart your self-awareness journey:

  1. Make a list of your wardrobe staples, that is, things you usually wear; trousers, dresses, skirts, jumpsuits, etc.
  2. Define what works best and what doesn’t base on your body type.
    For example, if you’re an inverted triangle, you might want to avoid off-shoulder tops and embrace V-necklines, so you know you'll have to declutter your wardrobe and get rid of the off-shoulder tops or dresses.
  3. Use this knowledge to build a capsule wardrobe tailored to your shape and you will realize that you'll start receiving a lot of compliments as regards how good you look and dress.
