I think it's fine if they just want to do NFTs and a proper marketplace. Usually ownership in the game or ecosystem comes with a token and some sort of financial support to the team.
Game studios should be free to decide if they want to go that way or not.
For sure, it's a good start to see the stigma around nfts change with games like off the grid lately. My point is all of these are funded through big money investors that'll look to maximize profit as has been the norm in gaming lately.
I don't believe very much in these old maids' ventures either. It looks like we'll always encounter unpleasant surprises along the way and, as you said, I very much doubt that the assets are 100% ours.
They can be yours, I don't doubt they'll make them fake nfts, my point is it'll only be bread crumbs of the real value. All revenue they get for the actual game goes to founders, VC's, etc, players will just get money from other players.
