The placement of the painting is quite right. (the top of the painting is between the top of the lamp shade and under the frame of the mirror at just the right spot).
What the eye wants to see is support under it...something stone-ish. ^__^

So you mean something under the painting to make it look like it's sitting on top - correct? To make it look like ts NOT floating
