But we do not get to control what people THINK. There is no central authority to tell people what they can and cannot use Hive for. The minute that exists, Hive is OVER, much less us trying to dictate what they THINK -- these are HUMAN BEINGS. We are not aspiring dictators, are we?

Well, we are all owners and should think like owners. This is definitely a good conversation to have. Can Hive support a user base that is 80% frequent extractors? Probably not, but it's a good thing that most of us stack and stake more than we take.
Everyone who comes in is an owner also, and can do what they wish with what they own, REMEMBER? If there is an owner's association with rules, perhaps we should let people know coming in. That's fair. Classing people as "extractors" who do not know is not.
There is no owners association. Just a bunch of owners including new users. And yes everyone can do what they wish with what they own. I use the term extractors as a descriptive term not derogatory. Most of us intend to extract at some point.
I guess another point and why I think this is a good conversation to have, is that new users should realize that people can do with their stake as they wish and it is good for them to build their stake as well in order to have a greater voice.
I know there is no owners' association -- THAT'S MY POINT. Meanwhile, you are not the only one using the term "extractors," and there are literally people building "enemies' lists" and tracking each and every one of us for downvotes based on a metric they are not sharing with us.
"Extractors," "milkers," "leeches" -- the terms change, but they are out here to have us feeling superior and ignoring the humanity of fellow Hivers who are trying to survive -- to have us consent to DEHUMANIZE THEM.
Look, I can't speak for anyone else, but nowhere in this conversation have I demonized or dehumanized anybody. Nor have I asked anybody to consent to anything. All I've said is that it's good to have conversations about extracting.
No, you haven't ... but I hope you think about where on Hive you adopted that language from. I am an investor in crypto, and specifically in Hive. I take profit at appropriate time, according to my wishes. That's AFFIRMING language of my freedom.
You are responsible for your own perception. I explained exactly how I used the term.
How is it that we cannot talk EVERYONE here and use freedom-affirming language about THEIR CHOICES?
We all have freedom here as stated near the beginning of our conversation. Do I need to affirm your freedom in order for it to be so? Not anymore than I need to affirm the freedom of those you said are building "enemies lists". Freedom is acknowledged and established as fact.
Furthermore, we know where the inflation is coming from. Dalz's data settled this -- it's big accounts, not small ones. https://peakd.com/hive-133987/@dalz/what-is-causing-the-additional-hive-inflation-in-the-last-months-where-does-it-comes-from
Inflation is kind of irrelevant to this conversation, but HBD stabilization is a good thing. Inflation will decrease over time as mandated by the code. Users like us and certainly new users have virtually no effect on inflation.
So then we need not talk about the "80 percent extractors" ... that's not what is causing the rises and falls in value.
Did I say there were 80% extractors?
Well, I would agree. We are decentralized after all. But at some point, we can't be sustainable if most of the users extract everything, it's fine but maybe not all the time.
Yes, but do we even know if this is the case?
Again, people do not know what the expectations are, so, who is responsible for that?
For me it's the onboarder.
Fair enough ... but do THEY KNOW? I've been around almost six years. Hive's predecessor was marketed to me as "Write. Earn crypto!" That is the legacy. Now, I come as a whole professional journalist, performing artist, and investor -- I know you have to build. But do most?
In order to solve this, we're going to have to be honest about who is already here, and why, so we can give a united message different from the ORIGINAL LEGACY MESSAGE. We can't assume people are going to know what we have never told them.
