I haven't written much about Linux in a long while. I'm no expert, just someone who has dabbled for a long time. I basically started with what I suggested for you: I bought a cheap used PC and learned on something I didn't mind breaking until I was comfortable.

It's a shame. I find it strange that no one in the Hive ecosystem writes about Linux. The essence and spirit of Linux seem to align with the spirit of Hive, as far as I understand.

It's not shameful, it's just unfortunate (translation nuances).

Free (libre, not just gratis, for more nuance) is the key. There is overlap between free and open-source software (FOSS) communities and crypto. Own your keys, own your crypto. Own your software, own your computer.
