I've been away from computer and news for a week. Catching up now. I'd love to hear your take on recent AI/tech advancements... What are your takes on DeepSeek R1 for example?

Welcome back @jarvie ,
The timing of this news is quite interesting!
It is throwing it's own chaos field.....just as President Trump is shaking things up.
We will see soon enough the Why?....I think...keep your eyes and ears on it. ^__^
Cheers, Bleujay
I think it's great that it was released open source. I also think all the doom and gloom about it putting all other AI applications out of commission are overblown. Competition is a good thing. "Have to" is a good master.
Looks very promising, yet it's too early to really tell.
Does not work great in Czech, though, ChatGPT seems superior for minor languages at this very moment.
Looks very interesting but I havent had the time to play around with it yet
It feels like the race is starting now, not that i am against China gettin the top spot. Its the balls in the govern that can cause some difficulties regarding safety of the soon to be AI ruled world.
The pace of development will increase significantly from now. I tell you that we loosing control quickly. Its free means us teaching it, gettin familiar with it and then flick the switch.
What amazes me is the cost of creating, its a fraction of what the whole tech world already pumped in AI stocks, how is that gonna go. So much yet to come and its coming fast, faster, fastest.
Gonna wait for a non-censored version.
Actually having used it, it's not very good. And when I say not very good, I mean actively not good. It doesn't work well.
The amount of hype it gets makes me look askance at the people hyping.
what is your typical field of usage and what other LLMs do you use? (aka your usage experience with other LLMs)
I spend a fair amount of time working with LLMs both locally and remotely. LLM Studio is an excellent tool for running and managing your own, especially if you want to integrate with your own toolchain.
That is to say in response to your implicit question, “No, I'm not just some rando talking out of his ass, I have some experience with multiple LLMs and judging their relative usefulness.”
China is taking over. 😅
i will wait some weeks, for check opinions
