Big cities are dangerous for those who aren't attentive. I've never been robbed or experienced anything similar; my state is a safe place. However, I’d be more cautious in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Well, I've neber been pickpocketed or robbed, and I don't really pay attention :))
Which state do you live in?
I saw that you're planning to visit Belo Horizonte, the capital of my state. It's not the friendliest place either. It’s not crazy dangerous, but big cities are generally riskier. Here in Minas Gerais, we have beautiful towns like Ibitipoca, Carrancas and Capitólio.
I might get there by bus, not really sure about renting a car. Thanks for the suggestion, though, I have it bookmarked :)
When you're here, if you have any questions or need anything, feel free to reach out.
Is the public transport safe? I mean if I take a regional bus from Belo Horizonte to one of the towns you mentioned, should I worry about our safery (kidnapping of tourists, robberies) on the way, or any hostility in the bus?
I believe the chances of kidnappings are almost zero. The most likely thing to happen would be minor thefts if you leave something valuable, like a phone, unattended. In smaller towns, the chances of a robbery are usually very low.
Thanks :)
On a regional bus, I highly doubt anything like that could happen.
Cool, I'd like to see a bit off the beaten track :) As a Worldmappin team member, I am not (and cannot even be) the typical touristy tourist ;)
And thank you, I really appreciate!
I live in Minas Gerais.
Oh, I might stop in Belo Horizonte on the way to Brazilia :)
