On English soil again

Landed yesterday - well, we're debating whether we landed or were shot down, to be honest. Either the runway has potholes or the suspension on the plane needs sorting out.

Collected the hire car and made our way to Horsham and the hotel. I was tired and sore by the time we got to our room.

This morning, I met with Dee Blick - best-selling author of three non-fiction books. Today is the launch of her first fiction novel and @s0u1 and I are invited to the launch! So exciting!

Dee is another 'Northern Lass' and we had a lovely chat. I think I monopolised her time a bit too much though and I know she's so busy today! Sorry, Dee.

It's been a while since we were last in the UK and not at 'home' in Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire. We're on a 'proper' holiday. I'm missing my animals back home, though.

The plan this week is to do some stuff we don't usually do - eat out, drink in pubs, take leisurely walks to nowhere in particular, you know the usual 'vacation stuff'.

Not that we don't love our new life in France, of course. The walks are normally across hills, fields and woodlands, the meals are mostly home-cooked (and home-grown food), delicious, filling and satisfying, but then someone has to do the washing up after... Drinking in pubs is a different activity to drinking in bars or at home - don't ask me why, it just is.

As usual, I'm not really sure where this post is going, I just sat down to write, and this is what I got - so this is what you got...

More tomorrow, I hope. After the Book launch!
