Drawing Avatars 002: @honeydue

in Ecency2 months ago

It's the weekend! I'm sure you're all off having an awesome time, drinking awesome shooters, just sitting around and soaking up each others' awesomeness...but me? I'm trollin' the chain for another avatar to draw!

Points for anyone who knows the next line!!!

I feel almost positive @geneandashlee would get this, but I don't think they check their mentions very often...I don't either 🤣

@honeydue, you ready for this?!

Today I turn my pen towards another user...@honeydue, you're up!

Anyone who went through the U.S. public school system getting flashbacks to picture day? Just me? hahaha no that's cool...

For this one, I started out just kinda copying the outlines of the parts and things and stuff like that. That's a clear and sensible statement, right?

...honestly, once I had finished all the outlines, I thought, this ain't gon' werk!

But the one thing I hold above all other precepts, at least right this second, is that you don't judge your work while it's incomplete...just trust the process and take the steps towards completion. In this case, that meant it was time to start coloring around all the outlines with my sick-ass Temu pen.

Things always change a little once the ink is down - for that reason, it's always really satisfying to see how the composition cleans up when the pencil is cleared away at the end.

And there it is! Came out pretty cool! Something interesting I noticed while focusing on the finer details here, is that the eye on the (your) left is a clear and solid Eye of Horus...at a quick glance, you could miss that, but it's clearly there...and there're no accidents in Hollywood.

@honeydue, super cool avatar! This was fun to replicate, and I enjoyed all the subtle nuances. The coffee mug part was cool too - although I just realized that I accidentally left the handle out 😁

If I was @honeydue, I'd replace my Neil Gaiman with your rendition.

She just might. ;)

LOL!

She did :P Don't LOL it.

That's it, new follower here. Now don't disappoint!
= }

HAHAHA! Shit, that’s basically the same thing 🤣
Solid one, got me good!

Holy hell you weren't kidding! I am super-duper honored right now, I can't believe it! ❤️❤️❤️

I do not kid. It's a cool ass drawing. Besides, I can't even tell the difference in that tiny thing. I love it. Thank you.

Also, took this to send to you. They're everywhere.

HAHAHAHA!

I thought in my mind that Neil Gaiman was to Avatars what John Hancock is to signatures 🤣🤣🤣

…skimmed the other comments and figured out a little more…now I wanna check it out. I love that art noir style

Got'er....

{Dark, addicting undertone chuckle}

🤣🤣🤣

I'm loving the sketches!

Honeydue's avatar is the Death character from Neil Gaiman's 'Sandman' comics, which are a great read if you're ever in the mood for something weird.

Thank you! It’s been fun getting back into it and feeling my hands coming back to me.

Thank you also for that clarification…I did not know that and am now curious - it’s been a while since I found a comic I loved, but if you, dan and honey are all familiar, it bodes very well!

Damn, dude. Was gonna ask for one eventually :D Feeling honored. And you did such a good job! I love it. Saved the photo and everything. Thanks! And yeah, as someone else said, it's from the Sandman series which I think you'd really dig if you haven't been through it already ;) Rock on.

You just made my day! I started laying out plans for who all I would draw before I even did the first drawing…somehow I already knew this was going to be a wicked fun way to practice my sketches, but I didn’t want to start off immediately going into random selection mode 😬

Great to see your post in the Ecency Community ♥️

Thank you!

You're welcome
