Excel - my favourite toy ! 😁
But soon to be replaced.
I've started tinkering with Office Libre, because I've made the decision to totally de-Microsoft my life now that they're making Copilot mandatory throughout all their apps (and specifically Microsoft 365). Since that means Microsoft will feed off all my confidential documents like some kind of digital vampire to train their AI, I don't want any part of it. I reckon it'll take six months to fully get clear of them, and I'll have to learn Linus along the way....

Hmmmmm I didn't know that. Copilot you say? What about businesses? And the POPI Act?
I think a lot of businesses haven't realised just how insidious Copilot really is when it comes to using their data to train the AI. I understand the American Bar Association has started raising some concerns around client confidentiality. I'm sure fairly soon we'll see the same kind of responses from medical and defence bodies among others.
Microsoft themselves have fallen back on waffle and hiding behind their T&C's which allow them to basically do what they like with any data you put into one of their products or use on a PC with Windows. Things like POPI and GDPR are national legislation which they appear to believe they don't have to abide by because they're a multinational.
Personally, I won't be getting a Windows 11 PC, so I'm going to have to learn Linux, and I plan to move off all Microsoft products over the next few months. I guess I'll have to keep one PC either Windows 10 enabled or emulating it within Linux just to be able to use certain business software that requires it.

It is an insane example of corporations taking over where governments do not have authority. It's bad.
Getting groups of people to stop following the norm is a pain.
