For some, I'm quite sure of that!!! It's all they taste, it's all they even know after a few beers (especially the heavier Belgian ones, like Duvel and such ;-) )

Indeed. South African Beers are also not.... light as I hear the American ones are. lol
I think nothing is as light as the American beers are :-) Stuff like that is almost sold as "alcohol-free" over here :-D

There's a name here for all beers that have less then 5% alcohol, it's called "merriezeik", which roughly translates as "horsep***" :-)

They are meant to be pretty good I guess. I suppose there are places that make better...
