Scottsdale is a city in the eastern part of Maricopa Country, Arizona, United States and is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. Named Scottsdale in 1894 after it's founder Winfield Scott, a retired U.S. army chaplain. Scottsdale is, 31 miles (50km) long and 11.4 miles (18.3km) wide at it's widest point. Scottsdale city was incorporated in 1951 with a population of 2,000. Scottsdale has been one of the fastest growing cities in the United States over the past decades

SCOTTSDALE ARTS AND EVENTS
Carefree is along the western boundary and shares Scottsdale's northern boundary with the Tonto National Forest. To the south Scottsdale is bordered by Tempe
The city has an annual Scottsdale arts festival. The highest number of galleries, studios and museums that are open to the public are in Downtown Scottsdale. The Scottsdale Arabian Horse show is an annual event that has been in existence since 1955. Other Scottsdale events include, the Scottsdale Jaycees Parada del sol, held since 1954.

The central terrain of paradise valley is dominated by mummy mountain. Other landmarks include Camelback mountain on the southern border.
