A short story of my experience in the university
I,
Jackson stared out at the sea of graduating students, clad in their elegant robes, as they filed into the convocation arena. It was a familiar setting, one he'd witnessed numerous times before. Yet, here he was, still lingering in the halls of the University of Uyo, eight years and counting.
As he watched his colleagues receive their diplomas, a mix of emotions swirled within him. Pride, for those who'd finally achieved their goal. Envy, for the freedom and possibilities that lay ahead for them. Regret, for the twists and turns that had kept him stuck.
Jackson's journey began like any other. He'd enrolled with high hopes, eager to earn his degree and make a name for himself. But life had other plans. Financial struggles, family obligations, and personal setbacks conspired to slow his progress.
Semester after semester, he'd register for classes, only to drop some or fail others. His GPA suffered, and his motivation waned. Still, he persisted, convinced that someday, somehow, he'd cross the finish line.
Attending the convocation was a bittersweet experience. Jackson couldn't help but wonder when his own day would come. Would he ever join the ranks of alumni, proudly holding his degree? Or would he remain forever stuck in this academic limbo?
As the ceremony drew to a close, Jackson slipped out, lost in thought. He wandered through the emptying corridors, memories flooding his mind. Late-night study sessions, laughter-filled moments with friends, and countless promises to himself to "do better next semester."
The familiar sounds of the university – the chatter, the bells, the rustling of leaves – seemed to whisper a haunting question: "When will it be your turn, Jackson?"
With a heavy sigh, he made his way back to his small off-campus apartment. The mirror above his desk reflected a face worn by time and uncertainty. Yet, in his eyes, a spark remained. A glimmer of determination.
Jackson sat down, opened his laptop, and began to type. A new plan, a fresh start. This time, he vowed, would be different.
Thank you all for reading through my experience.
