Hellooooooooooo TUESDAY!
Signing in for my 2nd day post of the week. Fervently hoping I can complete the one week posting which I had dared to myself. Go guuuuurl! You can do this! Ajaaaa!
Today, I would like to share in our trending and yet very successful NIGHT MARKET. Well, you see here in our small place in Sogod, Southern Leyte, we do not have those kind of nightly events. If you must know, almost all stores here are already closed by 7PM. Oh yeah! The roads are soooooooo quiet! We do not have any noisy clubs around or any disco fever marathons.. Nada!
Night Markets are a unique business proponent in showcasing a sort of bazaar during the night. Usually business hours are over beyond after the day's activities. But, there's a big but, night markets can live through up to 12:00 midnight and beyond for some places. This is a place where the night one can enjoy walking around leisurely, probably while snacking out on something or doing some little shopping.
The only very first Night Market I have been into was in in Davao City way back in the year 2019. Ooooooh!! It was a feast alright!! It's like the city is more tha alive in the night! There are too many stalls to choose from! And I don't think one night is enough to go through it all. And of course, your tummy has to be ready for the food war! Although, in Davao City, they do not only offer food stalls, they also have non-food such as massage centers, pasalubong centers, tattooing centers and other non-food related items. I tell you it was HUUUUUUUGE! I had totally had a super blast in my staycation at that time. In fact, I wanna go back and experience it all over again.
Soooo now, here in Sogod, we had officially opened our Night Market last month. Only recently, our Municipal Mayor had thoughtfully accommodate the idea of having the Night Market and to give it a try. Though, in nearby towns they are a few Night Markets that were being launched already. He had called up a meeting for all business enthutiasts who are willing to collaborate with him in the Night Market and together they had hoped to end successfully. Launching Nigth Markets is one way of reboosting the local economy that was downed during the Covid-19 Pandemic. It is a way to reconnect and rebuild our economy so that we can stand up once again.
During the first launch, it was said that the night market will only last for three days. But mind you, it had not been closed up to this date except for days when there is a typhoon and causing floods in some areas. Yeeees! Our Night Market has been more than a 100% success! Yaaaaay! People from within and nearby towns are just kept coming and seemed to be enjoying the new hangout. There are also a lot of business entities who had joined in the fun. This is so far the Night Market here in Southern Leyte that is operating every night.
Let me tour you in into some of the stalls that had caught my eyes I mean my nose my attention! 😋😋
The most stalls were all about grilled foods, well, you know how we Filipinos looooove to eat all sorts of barbeque. It ranges from either a fish, chicken, pork, instestines or other internal edible organs, hotdogs or anything that the can be grilled.
Here we have the chicharon bulaklak, fishballs, squidballs, ngohiong, kikiam and isaw.
These are the small intestines (I guess) of a pig, it is best eaten when it is deep fried, sooooo crunchy and juicy.
Next stop is the chicken feet!!! One of the favorites of the Filipinoes and we call it ADIDAS. Oh yeah, it was named after a shoe brand, hahahaha how funny!
Do not panic guys, it is thoruoghly cleaned and boiled to make it more softer to eat. As you can see, its nails had been pedicured well!! 😂
Say HI to our national fish, the BANGUS (Milkfish). We grilled it to perfection and added some stuffing to make it more yummier inside.
These babies are the pork bellies, marinated overnight!
We also have the drumsticks! I think this was pre-cooked the adobo way. If you are a Filipino, there is no way highway that you do not know ADOBO. Adobo is life to us! 😅
Ahhh! This was a new stall, it was not here during the first week of opening.
Presenting our infamous LECHON!
Of course, we won't stop there! we have the baby lechon, ---- the Lechon Belly!
It is raining lechon tonight guys, I think I saw 3 stalls for biggie lechon and 2 for lechon bellies.
With that I kinda decided to sit down and ordered in our dinner for I cannot resist to just keep being a bystander. I have to eat! hahahaha
We had chosen Esquinita Stall, where there offer a lot of delicious food items. Their Crispy Sisis was the first to teased me to come over.
I apologize for the poor lightning, but it was goooooood! Sisig is one of the popular dish with minced or chopped parts from the pig's face (ears, tongue, cheeks) and added with onions and stir-fried to perfections. You just have to topped it up with a sunny side-up egg for the extra flavors and of course the spicier the better.
Also, we ordered for Lechon Kawali and Meatball Spaghetti
I think we spent about Php 475.00 ($8.40) for a dinner for two. Fair enough I was sated!
Sooooo, movingon there are still a lot of stalls as we pass through.
Takoyaki (Pinoy Version)
Fresh Fruits in a Cup
Steamed Sweet Corns
Milk Teas
Other Bite Size Food Items
The Shawaaaaaaaaaaarma!
Even if I had been there like more than three times already, I just kept coming back. And each time, I try to sit into different stalls to give a chance to taste everything. I guess our love for food is the reason that has kept the Night Market alive! Likewise, another reason for friends and families to get together and enjoy some bonding quality time.
I have been in Bontoc Night Market too, but I had not done enough pictorials so I wasn't able to share it here. Maybe next time, I will come prepared. I also want to visit and try the St. Bernard and San Juan Night Markets for I heard they have great food as well.
Sooooooooon.
Well then, I hope I made you hungry with all the foods I showcased today. All pictures are mind using my android phone.
Bye!
