The most popular social media platforms have had censorship and profiling algorithms since the start, so they have a good picture on how people behave. Also at the age of information, people should be aware and take most things with a grain of salt.
Believing that bad ideas can be differentiated from good ones through community interactions has proven true through social blockcain voting. The tokens are just a tool to use and improve.
Over 2 years living in an almost cash-only community(utilities) with very few "outsiders" have taught, that the means of exchange is not as important as human and other resources. Also the kids seem to enjoy the freedom, without the constant Tiktok dopamine rushes.
There cannot be one single solution. I believe people can come together and make decisions together without outside interference. Getting used to do things without hierarchies takes time, and there are only a few places to practice that.
Luckily there are dApps like Ecency, where one can read stories from all around the world, get to know different cultures and perhaps earn some tokens while at it. Also it feels good to write what comes to mind and see, that people appreciate the effort.
For an adventurer there are plenty of different dApp interfaces to document the scenery and say words, that some algorithms are designed to hide. For a web developer it is interesting to see, how far can the Hive blockchain stretch.
Open Source is the way to go, getting more and more familiar with Nuxt Framework and a long-time plan is to combine it with Hive. With a group of clever and experienced people from different areas working together, many great things can happen!
