Dorothy: Daddy....
Mr. Wright: Yes darling.
Dorothy: why do we have to wait so long in this traffic?
(Sighs deeply)
Dorothy: Daddy...(sniffs)...i am gonna miss Angie's cake.....
(Starts sobbing quietly)
Mr. Wright: Dorothy, look........stop crying.....just take a look
(Wipes face with back of hand and blows nose loud)
Dorothy: i am not seeing anything, daddy.
Mr. Wright: My dear, listen to me. We are just a few blocks away from the party. It's just at the end of this road, after the next bend......cheer up my dear.....
(Face aglow with excitement)
7-year old Dorothy shows us that at some point circumstances, situations, challenges and inner conflicts of the mind place us at a point of decision - to hope or not to. I have even heard from somewhere - it's the hope that kills. I have also heard - where there's hope, there's life.
On a final note, a Psalmist said and wrote:
Ps.42.11 - Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
