Curation, Post Value, Dust, Gaming, etc. .:. Recap of Hive Humpday Hangout Ep.38 + HHHLive Show Recording (February 12, 2025)

participants instead of an audience... The main idea of it was (and is) that everyone is participating in the creation of the show sharing his views, opinions, and experiences... While I do try to get with a general topic (which you can suggest in the comment section!) before the show, sometimes it's hard to stick to it... Something similar happened in the latest show, but in the end, it was a great show with plenty of useful information shared, despite going off-topic... We were still discussing HIVE, and that's the most important! The main difference between the #HHHLive show and some other online podcasts/shows is that others have an audience, and we have

We had a few newcomers to the show which is always great to see! When they step out and ask questions, that's even better as that's the main reason why we are here! The show is called *Hive Humpday Hangout with a reason, and it's to help each other... There are no stupid questions, only questions that raise discussion and bring valuable answers to participants (and listeners of the recording!)

announcement post, What Would You Like To See On Hive More? This time, it was a nice crowd from the very beginning as @felixxx warmed up participants before the show by streaming his gameplay... 🙂 That's maybe not a bad idea to do before every future show... Optimistically, I began with the show introducing the "official topic" which was presented in the

First to break the ice was @felixxx sharing his view that we need more ways to earn and spend out HIVE and HBD... Valid opinion! We do have more movements in that direction, but we do need more...

This was the first time joining our show for @havandris, and he stepped out asking questions about curation on HIVE... As that is an important topic, we have moved all our attention to that, trying to share views on curation... The discussion was great as many people chimed in, sharing their opinion... It hurts when you invest a lot of time to create a post and to see that you get only a couple of pennies for doing that, but it's not all black and white...

We went deeper into talk about curators and creators, @achim03 shared his view that rewards and quality don't have to be related... In an ideal world, it should be, but in a decentralized world, (with some flaws), it doesn't... He also shared that it's important to create links with people on the chain, engage with them, create relationships...

Sometimes newbies are overwhelmed by certain "rules" (funny enough is that on HIVE there shouldn't be rules), trying to do things in exact "steps", while forgetting that things are pretty simple... Curation isn't a science, it should be something normal... You should support posts that you like, and that you are interested in... In that way, it's not a job, and it shouldn't be a job... It's a normal social media interaction...

As curation is important, not just for big curation projects but also for newbies, we got into a discussion about the "dust threshold" which was a thing on HIVE in the past...

screenshots from Ecency wallet

(Please correct me in the comment section if I'm wrong!)As it wasn't clear if it is still active, I did a small research and on the example from the @havandris wallet, we could see that the minimum payment isn't 2 cents, but the smallest decimal amount... 0.001 HBD and 0.001 HIVE... This is important to know as even if your upvote is worth 0.002 HBD, you still can get curation rewards for it!

EDIT: I was wrong regarding the DUST threshold... The author/curation reward payments CAN BE lower than 2 cents, but ONLY if the post/comment has a TOTAL amount of votes value over $0.02!

Hive game theoryTips for growing your HIVE account, which is a good idea for some future shows! There are plenty of things and tips that we could share with others...@jza mentioned the which kind of aligns with @achim03 words about creating relationships... We talked about the importance of supporting people who commented on YOUR posts, and how it's not a bad idea to upvote those comments and to reply to them... All that leads to a much wider topic as

@borniet was also on the mic saying that reblogging your friend's posts is a good idea to help others with more visibility... As short-content platforms on HIVE (Waves, Snap, Threads) are technically comments, we clarified that posts and comments have the same "weight"... Both are important!

Waivio...Closer to the end of the show, I tried to switch topics a few times, so we had a bit of talk about blockchain gaming and smart contracts... As @achim03 mentioned that he would like to see more tools on HIVE, we discussed spending HBD through V4V and buying coupons on https://www.bitrefill.com/... Or, creating your own webshop thanks to already developed tools for HIVE, as those that you can find at

It was an interesting show, but the dust being a topic was pretty good. It was one of the factors that made me want to increase my HP. It was one of the things that confused me when I first started.

It looks like I made a mistake regarding dust... I didn't find a valid transaction that proves that there are payments on posts/comments under $0.02, it looks like Dust still works!

My examples in the post were taken from the posts that were higher than 2 cents, but the reward "receiver" wasn't the only one who upvoted them... It's a bit confusing, but it would be even messy if we wouldn't have min. payout as there would be millions of micro-transactions...

It was fun and informative being there. I certainly will do more often, after we fix the 🎤 problem 😉

Thanks for attending! I'm glad that you liked it and I hope you will be there next week too! 😍

I arrived late to participate in this show. But I heard some important words. I hope to be able to attend the next show early. Thank you so much for this wonderful show.

Unfortunately, you arrived when the show was over, but you got some action from the after-show! Thanks for joining!

It was nice to be part of this conference and get to meet more people from Hive. Conversations were great. I’ll attend more to get more knowledge about the ecosystem.

Thanks for asking questions! It's important for others to get some knowledge, and it's important for "old users" to realign themselves and remind about important things!

See you next time!

How did you test on the spot if there is still a dust threshold or not?

Now that you say, I could be wrong... For example, that first screenshot is this comment https://ecency.com/history/@havandris/re-calendulacraft-202524t7574955z where it shows $0.02 total upvotes, so it's not under $1...

The second one just shows that even the account that receives 0.002 upvotes can receive 0.001 HP curation rewards (as we were talking about).

But the threshold means that the total upvote amount should be over $0.02...

So, my examples in the posts aren't valid... I was wrong...

Does anyone know if DUST is still active or not? 😃 It would be good to know for the sake of small accounts...

I haven't seen any evidence of it being removed. So, when the payout comes, if a post/comment has less than 2 cents (0.02) worth of payout, whatever has been upvoted is returned to the reward pool without any reward to the author or curators. I doubt we are talking about "cents". I'm pretty sure it's not even HBD cents, but something a little more complicated than that. But basically, whatever is listed on front ends as Hive payout.

One way to kind of check this is to go through your old posts and look at the comments. If you see a comment with less of 0.02 payout, let me know. I haven't seen any. Plus, dustsweeper, dustbunny, and the like, upvote posts to be around 0.025, to make sure they don't fall below 0.02 until payout.

You are right! I didn't find payment for posts/comments under 2c, so the dust thing is still on... Thanks for pointing it out once again...

I have edited the post, but I suppose it will still be confusing for newbies... lol... As I got confused too... 😀

I love accompanying them. A hug
