Last Thursday was the 7th Anniversary of me starting Pimp Your Post Thursday in 2017. I normally let the anniversary slide by with very little comment and no fanfare. Doing so, fits my rather lowkey style.
Recently, I realized PYPT is a social audio program and I was doing one before they even called it that. I decided to create a little noise around it. It’s also a way for me to thank those who have supported the show.
Without people attending and taking part, the show would not exist, or I’d be sitting there talking to myself. Now that would raise some serious sanity questions, eh?
Last week I talked about how the very first PYPT was an experiment. The part of the story I didn’t tell you then and I’ve rarely mentioned over the years is why that experiment ended up becoming PYPT.
The Rest of the Story
@sircork was a participant during the experimental show. Like a lot of people, I’m not a fan of the sound of my own voice.
People who attended were supportive and said they liked the format but I wasn’t really convinced it would be something that could be sustained longterm.
@sircork stuck around after the show was over and encouraged me to stick with it and give the format a try. He told me I did in fact have a voice for radio and that a lot of people hate their own voice.
At the time Cork was an integral part of setting up and running the MSP Waves radio setup on the PALNET Discord server.
On the strength of that, I decided to put my own doubts aside and give it a try. And that my friends is the untold story, until now. Thank you @sircork
Back to Last Thursday
It was great to see the 30+ who attended last Thursday. Thank you all for coming and sharing in the celebration.
Some of you talked about what PYPT has meant to you, the comments are on the recording. I was very touched to hear your comments, thank you so much for your kindness.
We visited, we laughed and we shared posts throughout the show. It was a comfortable flow, just like I enjoy having PYPT unfold.
There were people who have been part of the show since the earliest days and those who have become regulars. I value everyone’s participation and contributions.

Don’t worry if you’ve never taken part in something like this. You’re welcome to just jump in and listen until you are comfortable. If you want to test it out, we’ll always help people to get started. It’s a friendly bunch.
