Not necessarily. Developers can make their money in other ways than selling their product. It may be guaranteed customer support for those that buy a support plan, or maybe they work on the Linux kernel, which has quite a lot of funding now.

It's possible that if a FOSS app has a "paid support plan", its devs would be less inclined to make the app easier to use so that users would be more likely to pay for such support. 🤯

The "working on Linux kernel" sounds broad too, with questions such as "what exactly to do" and "how much work to do" for a given amount of funding. 🤯🤓

Yes, indeed, for unethical coders that very likely happens. The Linux kernel has an army of coders, both individuals, and people working on behalf of corporations, all focused in different areas. As far as I know, only a few get paid. 😁🙏💚✨🤙
