Hundreds of Hiveans have used the @v4vapp bridge to convert Hive to BTC Lightning or have received streaming sats for their podcasts or @threespeak videos.
My latest Proposal 244 on PeakD is still a little short of being funded while the previous one has now ended. I have decided once again to ask for 6 months of support so I always re-ask and check back with the community to check on my progress.
What I'd like to know is this:
- if you've used the service, how was it? Answer with a comment or post about it!
- if you haven't used it, why not?
- what else would you like to see me offer?
I'm trying out Reverio: looks beautiful so congrats to the team behind this site!

Brian, doing great work as always. What I want to see is for podcasters to start understanding about HBD. I know they love sats, and I want them to know that Lightning Networks own V4V bridge gives them access to one of the best stable coins in the world.
We want to offer podcasters Hive accounts.
Create an onboarding process for them.
Claim account, read Key Management tutorial, use Hive keychain in browser or Hive keychain mobile app.
Create all the steps and tutorials necessary (and organize them in one place) so that a podcaster can turn sats all the way to HBD and stake it for interest.
One day I would love for podcasters to be able to set their tip settings to 'sats', 'hive' or 'hbd'. That might require private management of a triple pool of sorts, I'm sure you are ankle deep into that already, but as that grows, it would also provide a deepening of Hive's relationship with BTC.
I am interested in helping to write the onboarding guides! Let me know how I can get involved :)
I'm working on all of this including a way to keep tips in Sat's. I think I've got the solution to that.
I will keep this comment saved, useful points.
I haven't had a use for it yet. I don't even have a Lightning wallet. I may have a play some time.
👍
Using the bridge to receive the V4V Sats I‘m getting streamed or boostergramed for my podcast. They are arriving as HBD in my Hive account. Works excellent.
Hope this whole V4V will scale and get known by more & more people. Just love this concept so much better than spamming people with advertisements.
A cool dashboard is being built. It will explode then I think.
What dashboard? You mean built by you or Fountain?
I'm going to be doing something with Conshax.
Oh, OK. Just googled them and it sounds really interesting. Actually it’s a german StartUp isn’t it? Some guy (Pascal Mehrwald) who is a PhD from Munich University. Are you working with him directly?
🙋🏼♂️ Joined the Early Bird Programm. Really exciting!
the service was pretty strait forward even before the site upgrade. Unfortunately i don't have a lot of use case for lightning at the moment, but it would be fun using it to pay for stuff even just for saying you can :) (if only someone could give me a card for my country :) )
so i kinda use it for fun to send few sats to podcaster, or send a boost from time to time to podcasting 2.0 podcast so i could make them talk about Hive :)
For Hive part, having notifications for those v4v transactions would help to spread some awareness. when i asked about it @asgarth said he will look into it for the new notification system they are building.
For other use cases i am not in the podcasting world and i am not sure how it all works and how the 2.0 works so it maybe makes no sense. Would be interesting if some of the (terminology i will use is probably off : ) podcasting hosting companies implemented Hive accounts and gave an option for all of their users to connect podcasts to Hive and be able to receive v4v sats without running a lightning node. Something like 3speak is doing now. (does that even make sense?)
Great comments, thank you.
I haven’t used your services before just because I had not heard of it. Perhaps there is less education or articles concerning it
Well it's pretty simple.... v4v.app is a simple website which works on desktop or if you're on mobile, load it up in the in app browser on Hive Keychain.
That lets you convert Hive or HBD into Lightning and the other way.
If you haven't heard about the Lightning Network I can suggest looking for the Wallet of Satoshi as a fun version to try out. Lightning is a solution to make Bitcoin transfers of relatively small amounts very quick. It's getting quite a lot of development and use especially in El Salvador and other places.
I have the lightning wallet. But still to use it yet. I think if I send some Btc to Hive, it's to try it out !
👍
I haven't used your service because I haven't found a viable way to spend the BTC.
I would enjoy a higher limit on how much can be transferred.
I would also enjoy seeing the service become decentralized.
Higher limits are problematic but I will keep trying to push them up. Half the problem is the low price of BTC... if that goes up, my limits go up!
Every work been put to it is really nice and a job well done to appreciate.

I am still kind of new with this but with time I believe I will be more use to it with the process.
Nice one friend you are really doing well
It seems that @michatogofuchs does not get the streamed Sats from me. I remember there was a change of the Server/Node that runs that Lightning/Hive bridge some time ago and you needed to update your v4v Block. Could you please provide Micha with the link where that was described @brianoflondon?
Thanks a lot! 🙋🏼♂️
Thanks
I thought I'd done that with him, do you have a way to contact him?
Yes. Should I forward something? …. asked him about it via DM.
He needs to make sure he has this node address instead of an older one in the Value block in his RSS feed :

, those sats still come to me but I don't run any software to send them on. I don't think I've received much on it but I could check.https://peakd.com/v4vapp/@brianoflondon/anyone-can-start-receiving-value-4-value-streaming-sats-for-your-podcast
Thanks Brian, he is looking into it again. Thought he had done it back then.
While I understood in big lines the project, I haven't used it as it was not clear to me if it is just to support podcasters or also the listeners can be incentivized in any way. If you can answer that would help others as well see the utility within the v4vapp app.
Micro payments as you listen (called streaming sats and boostograms) is one use of Lightning. Lightning, as a kind of Layer 2 technology on BTC is getting a lot of VC attention and pushes to put it into the real world. This is why bridging between Hive and Lightning allows Hive and all of us on Hive to get access to some of the investment being pumped into Lightning projects. Every time they manage to sign up a new retail channel with Lightning, Hive holders have very easy access to it. Hopefully that will get even easier if we build the kind of gateway I have into existing Hive wallets.
You should be very proud of your commendable work and because of that I support you by voting for your ongoing proposal on V4V.app the hive lightning bridge and Podping #244.
Success @brianoflondon
