Like many of you, I’m sure, I keep nothing in exchanges. I’ve been around the block long enough to know the risks are too damn great. The old adage “not your keys, not your bitcoin” is seared into my head, it seems. But this mindset’s also made it a pain in the ass to hedge my positions.
Being able to use the v4vapp wallet, effectively removing friction from the whole mess, lets me think hard about how to “play the game,” if you will. No more clunky workarounds—just a clean shot at strategizing.
You hear that phrase in traditional markets all the time—“hedge your bets.” I’ve watched stocks tank and hands get bitten enough to know putting all your eggs in one basket is a rookie move. Crypto’s no different—markets are temperamental beasts, and they’ll turn on you faster than you can blink.
I’m still chewing on how much of my Hive portfolio I should divert toward Satothis. Maybe 10% to start, see how it rides? Any input on this would be gold—I’m open to your thoughts. Either way, I’m sold on doing it now.
Average costing my Bitcoin position through blogs, though? Tell me if you know something more powerful than that. I’m talking stacking sats by just writing what I think—beats the hell out of praying for a dip. I’ve not seen better yet, and I’m thinking I won’t.
MenO
When you talk like that about markets tanking and cost averaging, the ugly beast that rears its hind behind is fiat money. The dollar. Bitcoin is a store of value for the old, dollar-based economy. Hive is something else altogether. It is the platform for an admittedly puny but nevertheless independent economy. I don't earn Hive to exchange into fiat, I earn Hive to have an ever more solid foot into this parallel, complementary economy whose blood is Hive
I do not know about the Kaiser prophecy but something that is present in the minds of 8 billion people as the dollar can hardly die.
Inflation, yes, there will be inflation and the dollar will be wounded, but BTC is not and cannot be a currency. The American economy will remain dependent on a sick dollar just as the Argentines have kept using pesos rather than gold and would have kept using only pesos if it had not been for the US dollar. Except the Americans won't have that exit strategy that the Argentines had, because BTC cannot be to the dollar what the dollar was to the Argentine peso.
Do you believe in the Kaiser prophecy? I'm sure I can find the video. He thinks the dollar is going to "die" with inflation, and that BTC is going to soak it up. Which is to say, we will stop thinking of dollar amounts after that.
Is the OBC only for talking about Bitcoin? I guess it keeps it all in one place 😁
How are you finding it?
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it's about talking of Hive's ecosystem. Bitcoin as it connects with us. But @starkerz would be the man to ask for clarity there.
Well, the interface is simplified, easy enough to use. It reminds me of old forums I used to visit back in the day. But what's more important is the potential here. The tech is there, and it can be scaled. We could make communities that tie into this, recruitment is ten times easier (imo) if you got BTC as the header of the letter.
Time will tell I guess. But for now. I'm stacking satoshis.
Ah okay, I understand 🙂
its for bitcoiners. if you have btc in your wallet, you are a bitcoiner
simple answer! hahahah
Keeping crypto off exchanges is the way, but yeah, it makes hedging a headache. That v4vapp wallet might just be a good solution to many things. Getting sats for writing, fk yh
Getting paid in Bitcoin for sharing thoughts is way better than just waiting for a dip. A real win win strategy
You are right about the crypto on the exchange, not ours because we don't hold the key. I fell into the trap that easy trade is possible when the assets are in the exchange. I will reduce the volume stored in the exchange.
Also. I have learned basic stuff in trading, I am still a newbie.
I believe now is the right time to dollar cost average buy assets for long term.
