I Learned a New Word: Liberosis

in Inner Blocks9 months ago

I was scrolling through Instagram when I came across a screenshot of this word with its meaning. I paused for a moment to think about it and in that moment, it felt like a message from the universe. I haven’t stopped thinking about it and now I’m sharing with you; who knows, it could resonate. I did a little bit of research as it is obviously a rare word, and I learned a few things about this word.

According to Wikipedia:

LIBEROSIS originates from the Italian word: Libero, which means “FREE”. Liberosis was coined by an American author named John Koenig. He is the creator of _Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, a project that aims to give names to emotions without names or descriptions for.

LIBEROSIS is defined as “The longing to feel a blissful childlike state of indifference and to experience life's joys without being burdened by its cares.”

WIKIPEDIA

I wish I could feel that. I wish I could just enjoy the love and sunshine of life without worrying about the hard parts. This word reminded me of one of my favorite English words - EQUANIMITY. The grace to approach life with an incredible sense of calmness and stability. Making peace with the ebb and flow of life and maintaining composure in the face of madness.

It is not the same as Liberosis but it comes close. It is almost impossible to meet the longing of such childlike liberty and perception of life except by healing and freeing our inner child.

I hope this word inspires you to pause, breathe, and unclench your fist. To tilt your face to the wind and imagine running around on a beach as kid, with your friends; with no problems, no obligations and responsibilities.

I know someone children don’t get to experience the blissful indifference and undiluted joy that comes with being kids, because life deals them a cruel hand. But, they deserve every bit of selfless care snd support that kids are entitled to. I hope they get to run wild with their imaginations. And so do you!

Thanks for stopping by. ❤️
