Late Night Walks

Alexa, play "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" by The Script. haha

"A person who thinks all the time has nothing to think about except thoughts." -Alan Watts.

A problem I've had, or at least in my perspective that is, is that I think. But we all think, don't we? How has thinking become a problem you may ask? Too much thinking, or overthinking, leads to delusion and mental suffering.

According to Lucius Annaeus Seneca, “We suffer more in our imagination more often than in reality.” In which he means that the more we overthink things through, especially our problems, whether massive or minuscule, we overcomplicate our problems. Thus giving us that feeling of anxiety and despair.

Converge...

As a student, I get a lot of hours just sitting in my chair at school, listening to lectures and doing seat works to complete a task for this subject in my curriculum. In which it has caused me a bit of trouble with my body. According to the book "Ikigai" by Francesc Miralles and Hector Garcia (I will be making a review of this in the future, be on the lookout!)

"Spending too much time seated at work or at home not only reduces muscular and respiratory fitness but also increases appetite and curbs the desire to participate in activities"

In which, the book recommends:

"Walk to work, or just go on a walk for atleast 20 minutes each day"

Which is why...

Hitting 2 Birds With One Stone!

To de direct. I walk from school all the way to my home to meditate and to activate my body.

How does one meditate while walking? Simple! Just walk
Walk and clear your mind, this is most effective when you're at your local park and there's greenery and shrubs all over the place in which research has shown to bring out calmness to one's mental state.

In my case, as I'm walk and in pure random occasion I think of something irrelevant, I force my mental dialogue to shout(I know it's extreme but it works, so that's that) "shut up" and that's that. My brain then emphasizes on hearing the sounds of the passing vehicles, the cold wind of the night lightly passing through me as it sends shivers to me and it repeats until I finally reach my house.

And to explain how I activate my body. Simple! Just Walk
That's literally it and you just start sweating after walking for a few meters depending on your body and it's relaxing.

Beyond those reasons

Walking all the way until I reach my house is also something in which for me is another form of discipline. There's multiple ways for me to get to my house, most of which is by using public transport but then the problem in which I've mentioned, "Overthinking". It gets to continue as I sit or stand in my public transport, waiting for it to stop at my destination. It just marinates itself inside my head and ends up cooking me. haha

Perceived Results?

I attained Inner Peace and Superhuman levels of Strength and Endurance, I am now the Dragon Warrior haha.

But seriously though. It's been helpful, and has become a habit. And I feel as if like I'm giving my mind a break other than actually sleeping which is a full on rest. And that is it!

I too prefer to walk sometimes instead of using a public transport. Oftentimes I am able to think thoroughly during a walk, I even make important decisions after having thought so clearly during a walk.
