She and I have kept in pretty close touch since before Hive, in both Steemit comments on each others posts and in Discord DM.
Then several weeks ago, after me worrying myself silly because I hadn't heard from her in so long, her Discord DM pinged me, but it was her son William (who lives with her there) with the bad news:

I am sorry for the lack of information, but my mother fell and broke her hip in two places and needed surgery to put in a pin and one plate and four screws. She'll give more information later.

Been there, done that. Though not with an ambulance. For several years I lived in Brunswick Ga on the coast of the Atlantic, my only medical care was the VA hospital like 300 miles away. They had a van set up to take folks for APPOINTMENTS (non emergency)
I had a boil/sore right between my legs, what we called the "Taint" 'cause it taint tail hole and it taint pussy.😈
The trip up, crowded in that van was bad enough, but when the Dr's lanced it with NO ANESTHETIC, then having to wait for all the other's who'd ridden up to finish with THEIR appointments, load up and drive back over the bumps, it was agony, but I bet not as bad as what you all went through
cecicastor01/27/2021 Well I don't know really, but mom went through the surgery without anesthetic because our family does not do well with it. All I know was that we had to pay over $5000 for our two weeks in the hospital. At least mom is doing better. I apologise but I need to go look after my mother for a bit. hopefully she'll be better and can talk again soon. Take care Jerry.
Since that exchange, there had been no word. I was sick with worry.
Then last night I was working on my storm door, and didn't hear my laptop PING, so that when I came to look, there had been a missed call from her (or her son)
I tried several times last night to call, with no results.
Then today, I remembered that I USED to have a phone # for her, and I found it!
When I called she almost cried, she was so overwhelmed with emotion. She said last night when she couldn't get to me, she just sat up in bed and cried. So here is what she told me about their status:
Previously, since she has been trying to get out of Nicaragua for some time, but didn't want to just leave everything behind, she said she had some sort of investor, or developer who expressed interest in buying her property.
Then she fell, and broke her hip.
Whoever that was, has disappeared.
Her sons have banded together and arranged for a "Canadian Medivac", but the Nicaraguan Gov't still wants endless papers and MONEY before she and William (the son who lives there with her) can leave the country.
Her son Chris (I never knew his name until now) and his wife will be coming out in about 8 months.
She said that even now, it will probably be FOUR WEEKS before she can get herself and William out.
They will be staying with a Cousin in Canada until they can both get through THAT quarantine and get some sort of life set up.
She said she can't get herself out of bed, and really just wanted to talk to me last night. When she couldn't get to me, she said she just sat there in bed and cried, so when I called just now, she was ecstatic and almost cried when she got on the phone.
She DID go through the hip surgery sans anesthesia! 😱 can you IMAGINE THAT?
I told her that I'd be getting the news out and updating people on several servers where she was a member.
She thanked me, and said that she would not be coming back to Hive, because it was gone to shit (her words)
I said that $Hive crypto currency had gone way up a few days ago.
She asked me if I were on Discord a lot ? :rofl:
I said if I am not outside working in the yard, at the store or a Dr appointment, me and my computers were 'joined at the hip' so she was grateful and said this would be how she'd keep in touch.
Yes, she could really use some funds, but there is no way to get anything to her DOWN THERE, once she gets back to Canuck land, I'll be able to send her something along and along to help keep her afloat
All those years of time, effort and money invested in their homestead gone.
They put down a well and were supplying neighbors with fresh water.
They had a windmill for elec power (I think)
I asked her, did she have any neighbors that she felt close enough to, that she could GIVE the property to someone rather than just letting it go?
She said that there was one couple who were angels, and had been coming in cleaning, and helping to sort and pack.
They would probably be the new owners
So as of right now, that is where it stands. She will be essentially penniless, bedridden for sometime once she gets back to Canada, they've arranged for a rehab (for her hip) but she also said she would need treatment for EMOTIONAL TRAUMA after all this.
I will try to keep everyone posted as I get more news.
She could use your prayers and support, if you can spare anything, you can't send her funds until she gets out of that Nicaraguan hell hole, but you can give Hive to her account, which she could then cash out, to have something with which to get started again

Thank you for the update! I saw where you had commented on my post, but it isn't coming up. I was so relieved to hear that she was is doing ok...well still going. I had reached out a couple weeks ago but hadn't heard anything, so to get your message was and now this post is huge sigh of relief! Thank you!!
I can't believe she didn't have anything during her surgery...how in the world did she get through that?? Her survival story is the real deal. If you talk with her again, please let her know that I'm thinking about her and praying for her.
I usually check in to Discord DM at least once a day, and typically have the alert sounds turned off, but now I've got them on in case she calls or contacts me again.I will surely do that. She mentioned something about you were thinking of, or trying to get a Discord Server going? She said that it had fallen through and was deeply disappointed for you @freedomtowrite
Omg! I know Ceci too... Hope she gets well soon. My best wishes for her recovery.
Path to where she can be in a better, safer place than where she is now.
