Reconstructing our old water reservoir

in Inner Blocks4 years ago (edited)

Hello guys,it's punkblogs here. For few months It's been hard for us to get adequate water supply to perform our daily needs. Water is required for everyone and almost for everything we do in our day to day life. We had a reservoir made up of concrete, probably built in 2k17. But soon after 2-3 years, there were leakages in the concrete and soon these leaked water droplets started damaging the base walls where we have our bathroom( iron rods that was put to support the reservoir started rusting). Condition got so worse that we had to break out the concrete and insert a 1000 litre tank. So this morning I went to a hardware shop to bring all the essentials that is required to fit the tank in place of the reservoir.

You can see the condition done by those leakages to the bathroom walls

From the hardware shop, I bought some elbows, tee's, m-seal and some other materials as told to me by the plumber.

So now we had to make a hole to fit the pipe inside the tank but unfortunately the plumber forgot to bring his drilling machine with him. So he tried some desi technique (jugad)😀. He got a metal rod equivalent to the circumstances of the pipe and heated it so to slide it through the tank. Well it worked fine and the hole was made accurate.

The plumber,me and my father put all the required items in its place.mostly they performed all the work and I was just a helping hand coz I don't have knowledge and practice about these things.

Now the main task was to lift the tank up to the reservoir point. For that, what we did is , tied the tank with a rope and threw one end of the rope to the plumber who climbed up to the reservoir point. Me and my father tried lifting the tank from downwards but it stucked in between the midpoint. For that my pops bought a cut bamboo piece and forced the tank upwords and it reached its destination somehow i.e mission accomplished.

Later works were performed by pops and the plumber coz while lifting up the tank, there was some water in the tank and it fell on me from those holes, so I went to change my cloths.

Although, now it's working quite fine but for today we didn't use the water. It's because we pasted some m-seals in those holes and it was a new pipe so left it to clear the pipes and the m-seals to dry. Tomorrow we will clean the remaining pipes and then it's ready to use. Now I can finally have a bath tomorrow lol.

With regards

I fully understand your effort and determination to have this water tank @punkblogs, here at home there has never been a lack of water, but since a few years ago, it has become a real problem, a few months ago we spent a month and a half without water, it was really awful, and last Saturday we also had two weeks without water, so we have taken precautions to store water at home and manage it correctly so that it will last for several days.

That's sounds scary. How you spent months without water?

There are no pipelines for water supply so we have to manage our supply by ourselves. We are taking precautions to store our water safely. Also because next month will be a peak season for flood in here. So building a reservoir will help a bit for us

We went out to look for them with the help of neighbors and friends, it was really terrible, it was desperate.

It is great that you got a water tank. We also suffered a lot without a proper power system and a concrete tank. I have even lived with rain water, lol because of no power and thus no water except an old well. Then we invested in a tank and now thankfully, we have water even if the power goes.

Yes di. We did this also because we might be having flood during next two months as water level of Brahmaputra river is rising and there will be no power during that time. This tank will be very useful at that time.

I like that little cat watching the stuff photo... very good job on fitting the tank... and good you got a unintended bath, harmless accidents...

Ahh thats right mate
