Hi there. I'm Dhouse and I was pretty into Steemit back in the day. I left when votebots ruined the platform but I'm excited to check out what has changed. I would be very grateful if anyone could point me to an article about what the changes have been to the platform through recent hardforks. I was around mostly in 2017-18 so I assume there have been a lot of changes.
I am still quite interested in the crypto space, but I'm also jaded. I got in towards the end of 2017, and I witnessed the great alt szn of 2017-18. Also, I tried trading, staking, masternoding, GPU mining, and Steemit posting. I never made any money. Well, I made a ton of money in Nov 2017-January 2018, but I lost most of the profits. I did manage to buy EOS at a dollar and sell around $20, and take profits from that, but most of the sick gainz from the incredible bull run of that era are gone, a sad result of hodling, not taking profits, believing too much in the sh*tcoin world, and generally not knowing what the hell I was doing.
I'm still here though, and I'm in it for the tech!! Kind of. Well, I'm a software developer and I find the tech super interesting, but I also dream of alt season. A man can dream, can't he??
Anyway! Hive is exciting both because it is a potentially real decentralized social media platform, and also because $$$$!
The one question that always nags at me with Hive is, it's basically a staking coin except you have to post and comment and work for your staking rewards. Why not just buy Tezos or Atom or Algo or whatever the hot staking coin is right now? Why work for it? It's the same risk/reward that is based on the ups and downs of the coin's value.
Anyway. Let's see where this goes.
Hello there @dhouse,
Nice to see an old-school Steemian coming back. I believe you were right about bidbots destroying the platform at the time.
We are glad to see you posting in our HODL Community and we hope to interact with you often, check out our other member's posts when you will have the time.
