Decisions

in Reflections3 months ago

I've made countless decisions in my life, really great ones and some that have not turned out quite to plan. With those that didn't work out, I rarely felt good however as I gained more understanding of life and myself specifically, I began to realise that making a decision that doesn't ultimately work out isn't all bad, lessons can be learned.

Another thing I learned was that failing to make a decision can often go much more wrong as it doesn't allow an opportunity to develop, a problem to be solved or situation resolved and not making a decision means one can't learn from that decision going wrong if it happens to.

My guy and I are decision makers meaning we don't avoid them; we are good at evaluating, seeing from all angles and perspectives, or as many as possible, and moving on it, coming to a decision then proceeding. This doesn't happen without proper thought and consideration, we just don't procrastinate. I think one of the reasons is that we know, understand and live our values.

Whether it's a decision to change career paths, a business matter, moving house, make or not make investments, around whether to discard a person from our lives, where to vacation, what to buy...even a pair of boots, we remember what's important, stick to our values and overall plan and then decide from there. (For the record, I didn't buy the pair of boots in the image, but wanted to.)

Being able to evaluate situations, to determine them as part of the big picture, is important, and it's equally important to stay committed to decisions we make but flexible too, able to pivot one way or another if needed; that's what helps us make the best of the decisions we make.

It is a good leadership trait to be decisive. Your last paragraph sounds like good sound leadership stuff to me. You must be in a leadership position, and if not, it is a travesty you aren't.

Hello Joe, I'd not say I was in leadership however I have my own business, own and operate it, and I suppose I've had to take a leadership role with it, myself and at times others. I know a good leader (my guy) who has taught me many things by example and in discussion so I understand what it takes to be a leader.

Thanks for commenting and I hope you've had a nice weekend.

I always enjoy your posts, so no thanks necessary.
So far the weekend has been good. I hope your weekend has been nice as well.

It's been a nice one here too, still going too, and still nice. 🙃

Very much in agreement Becca, if one does not act, if one does not make decisions, one will remain stagnant in life, opportunities will not open up, and if a decision was made in a bad way, see the possibility of changing it, take responsibility and be flexible, as you mention.

My mother has white boots like that and she loves them!
I wonder which one you bought! They are beautiful boots.

Beautiful song, very good lyrics!

Thank you Becca!

I didn't buy the white ones although they were very nice, they all were; I didn't buy any of them on that day as I wasn't sure I needed them and nothing jumped out at me but I think I will buy a new pair at some stage.

It's a nice song isn't it?

I used to wear boots more, I was in a much colder place and I love boots, it's true if you don't need them you don't need to buy them.

It's a beautiful song! Thanks Becca, hope you had a nice Sunday.💗

I love boots but yes, when it warms up they can feel a bit uncomfortable. I still wear them in summer sometimes with a sun dress, something light, but only if it’s not too hot.

Making decisions with determination after evaluating risks is the best thing in life, and if the results are positive, so much the better.

I know we should not live in the past, but I learned a lesson, don't stop making decisions in the crucial moments of life, maybe I will never get the chance again, and it certainly happened.
Lesson learned: take risks and make your decisions with a positive attitude.

I almost confused the singer with Taylor Swift, that first image with the guitar, very similar, to some extent, right?

The super thin white boots, I like them with everything, even though I'm terrible at that fashion thing.😃

Hope you had a great weekend.

I don't think living in the past gains anything at all, however I've always found it beneficial to learn from the past and that means sometimes I think about it to remind me of the lessons I've learned and that helps me live in in the present better. The decisions we make, even if bad, can be turned to our advantage.

We agree.

We have a phrase over here:
What good are the sticks (the blows) that life gave you?

Have a great week Becca
