Edge of disaster

in Reflectionslast month

Over the last little while I've watched a few events around the world unfold, some natural and others man made, and with each has come human suffering to greater and lesser degrees. It's sad to see such things occur and the effects they have on people just like you and I, but they happen over and over again and we are quite powerless to prevent them, certainly the natural disasters that occur, despite being the most advanced species on the planet.

With all of our knowledge, imagination and creativity, the incredible things humans have created which have brought us to a point where our lives have never been easier, more prosperous or safe, a single act of nature, too much rain in a short period of time for instance, the gains we have made are scoured away so easily and with often disastrous effects on people.

I never feel angry about such things, not as far as mother nature goes anyway; she is simply doing what she's supposed to and the events that occur are a part of the natural order of things however I often feel sad about the effects of those natural disasters. What makes me feel anger and disappointment is knowing that actions taken by the human species are often the catalyst for such disasters through our misuse and mistreatment of the planet and its resources, and that certainly is avoidable.

It seems apparent to me that humans are rushing towards self-created disaster, willingly and eagerly, and that no one really cares enough to do much about it other than talk.

Mother Nature seems to be very upset lately and letting us know it.

That's what I think as well. I'm not even sure if there's anything we can do to make it better.

I don't either as I feel the point of no return has already been crossed.

And to think that many times these natural disasters are caused by men, by decisions of for example rulers, in cutting down many trees for their own ends, to give just one example... thus damaging the entire planet. It is very sad. Thank you for this reflection Becca. I agree with you.💗

It's quite sad to think people are causing such things through ignorance and lack of care.

It is and unfortunately I think there is nothing we can do.... Hug.💗
