Where's peace

in Reflections2 months ago

Sometimes I look around and see what's happening in the world and feel that it is being transformed into a wasteland. The changes aren't always obvious but sometimes are very apparent and so many of the changes don't seem to be moving us forward towards a better world.

The physical landscape changes in many ways we don't even understand yet and do people too; where that takes us is unknown. It's frightening and disheartening to think how quickly things have changed in so few years against the eons the world has existed, and how rapidly things keep changing, but even more frightening is that so many people don't think there's any problem at all, or wish to stay oblivious, and not enough is being done to rectify the problems.

Can they not hear the thunder that rolls or the groaning of the earth beneath us as it protests against the treatment it receives, don't they remember that the air was once much easier to breathe and water much easier to drink? Can people not see the conflicts that exist between people that are, in essence, all the same? Does mankind not care that religion and greed, pride and pettiness has people at one another's throats unnecessarily? Have people become so unfeeling or uncaring and do they not see the suffering of millions and that there seems no hope or action towards changing that despite there being many ways to make a change?

I remember when I didn't think this way and when my eyes saw wonder in everything; I try to emulate that each day; that was in a different time and I was a different me, and yet I try to rediscover it. I long for the awakening that must surely come when everything changes for the better and when the earth and human hearts can find peace and time to heal.

It does look dark doesn't it? I have little faith in the future of humans myself. As far as earth, once we are no more it should be able to start healing itself and start over. Maybe I am too pessimistic and need too have more hope for the future of our species.

I know what you mean Joe, but hope alone won't make a difference I think and it's going to take everyone acting on a global scale to make any dent in the issues. I can't see that happening, can you?

I think the planet will be so happy when humans are finally gone.

I can't see that happening, can you?

No Becca, I sure can't see it. At least not until it is far too late.

I agree that the planet will breath much eaier once we are gone.

I think we see so much suffering that we've become inured to it. We turn a blind eye to the myriad of problems in the macrocosm, the poisoning of the land, sea and air, erosion of freedoms, increasing government intrusion etc because we feel powerless to do anything about them. I imagine we have at least 8 more circles of hell to go through before anything changes for the better.

I agree with everything you say and it feels to me that humanity is rushing headlong into oblivion willingly; i believe people know what's wrong, what needs to be fixed and what needs to be discarded like personal attitudes and habits and at corporate and governmental level also and yet so few do. Greed is probably to blame, the fear of missing out and ignorance I suppose too. I hear a lot of talk about what's required, what initiatives must be made and there's a lot of funding raised to make those things happen but where is the action?

Dante described the levels of hell, I wonder if it's possible to be in all of them at once as that's how the world feels and looks to me mostly. 😳

so many of the changes don't seem to be moving us forward towards a better world

Sometimes I'm afraid to think what awaits us as humanity in 15 or 20 years, because I'm aware of the changes from the beginning of the 21st century, when a lot of things were different...
And honestly, I think that AI will give us a headache, if we don't make an agenda on how to use it correctly.
And we won't🥹

I agree with you, I don't look upon the future as a place that's going to be better; it doesn't mean it can't be, just that I do not think it will be. It's sad, humans could have made a really nice place of the planet but we are intent upon ruining it instead it seems.

People are so hypnotised in their own worlds, in the networks, on TV and in banalities that they don't look around them.

The other day I said to a friend: don't you look at the sky? She said no. My eyes couldn't get out of my astonishment.... doesn't look at the sky! Nor what happens in it. I was very saddened because that's how most people are... zombies.

I also remember other times and I try to imagine the world in a different way, I hope I will get there but I see it complicated.

I love remembering things as they used to be but I always have to come back to the present and look ahead which is when I see that things are so far off course that I think humanity won't find their way back. I wonder if all those movies about apocalyptic times have it right, that the world needs to be rid of us, or at least most of us, so so everything can re-set and start again.

Many of those movies are happening right now and others I believe will happen. Before they seemed far away but they are getting closer, maybe those who made them knew something that we do not...

We will have to adapt to what happens.💗
