Today I wanted to reflect on my 7 years here on Hive!
Forgot My (Hive)Birthday
Isn't it funny when we forget certain things others highly celebrate?
As the years have gone by, I've liked birthdays less and less. Not that they aren't a good event to celebrate, but it's another year gone by since I was born. I think it's something about getting past your 20's that does it to you. There aren't really many milestones except every 10 years, and even then, those aren't necessarily the most heart-warming things. Thinking you're now ten years older than you thought you were.. not great LOL
A bit of a similar thing with Hive, in a lesser way. I knew that it was coming up, but then things went sideways with work and all that and before I knew it, it was the DAY of my Hive "birthday" and I barely even knew it until the end of the day. I think it's one of those things that happens, where we just forget!
It was a fun thing to reflect back on though, being on the blockchain here for SEVEN years! Damn that's a long time, and for sure there are a lot of things that have happened on the chain here and in my personal life in that period. In some ways, I'm a completely different person than I was those years ago, which is wild to think about!
I think one of the things I appreciate the most about Hive is that I learn things all the time. I like that I also learn things in a litany of various topics and genres as well, instead of isolated to one or two topics. Working in the field I am in, I learn a lot there for sure but it's narrowed down which isn't too surprising. With a place like Hive, I am able to learn a wide depth of things like Finance, AI, Arts and lots of other things all in one platform, which is pretty dope.
In the end of the Web 1.5 / 2.0 we are in right now, there are a lot of opportunities that places like Hive and a small number of others are taking advantage of and capitalizing on. We don't have the gigantic numbers like Fakebook does, but I think that's okay because it's appropriate that we are a bit on the niche end of things, instead of a massive platform with millions or hundreds of millions of people. If you thought the spam and down voting was bad now.. ramp that up by a few hundred thousand people and it's insane LOL.
I think that another thing I've noticed is that, like anything with life, people come and go. I've seen a number of great people start here as well as leave without a second thought. It's unfortunate that they come and go at such rates but appearing for a little while, making their mark on my and others lives and then moving on is seemingly what they are meant to do in this realm. I'd love to get an update from some of them but realize that it's unlikely to happen.
I'm wondering what the next 3 years will bring, and round me out to 10 years here on Hive. It's pretty wild to think about, that we are approaching the time where some of the earliest people here are approaching 10 years! In the digital realm.. that's a lifetime for sure. I don't know many places that I've actively been on for 7 years, and even fewer or none at all that I am active for 10 or more! Certainly looking forward to it all though, because there are always going to be new people that come up here!

Seven years is a long time and providing daily updates takes a lot of effort. Now I have been working regularly on this platform for four years and I also post once a day. It takes a lot of time.

7 years is a significant milestone, congrats for the achievement. That's also what I appreciate on this ecosystem although it's a niche, I still learn quite a lot from a diverse source of experiences from different backgrounds. Looking forward to what the future holds, will be turn half a decade on Hive when you reach the decade milestone on Hive ;)
Yeah man it's wild how expansive and broad the exposure we get on here is. We can learn about so much but I think one of the most important parts is that we get to expose ourselves to different cultures, religions and backgrounds. It's a worldly experience that surpasses so many things out there and a highlight of my day!
Before you know it you'll be at 5 and then 7 years man! Time flies lol
Right, I think that exposure is necessary, makes us understand life more as it is rather than how our minds make up to be. If it's a bubble, then it's at least an expansive bubble :)
Congratulations on 7 years. Most of the times it feels unreal how long you've spent, and that's basically because time seems to fly when you're experiences are wonderful. I wish you 13 more years to make it 20 lol.

Happy 7tn brother. Eventually you come to that age threshold when you look foward to a few extra years. Well when retirement is near, haha. I'm sure when that time comes we revert back to not wanting to get older again haha.

I'm a newbie here and is still on the process of exploring Hive. I have a lot of questions in my mind but hopefully I can figure things out soon. Congratulations on your 7th-year here. To more years ahead👏👏👏
Hive is a great place. I would say comment more than you post and leave comments that are a way to talk with the author and show that you read their post. If you can do that consistently, you should be able to make some good friends and progress here!
That’s actually what I’ve been wanting to understand too—how to progress more here. I’ve already made some posts, but the problem is I’m only getting small earnings. I’ve seen some newbies earn a lot even just from their very first post. Maybe I’m still missing something in terms of effort🤧! But honestly, aside from the earnings, I’ve come to enjoy Hive. It’s a good way to take a break and a great diversion that keeps my brain cells active, especially when things start to feel a bit stagnant🤣

Don’t compare yourselves to others in terms of their intro posts and things like that. That is so random for what ones do well and what ones don’t. There are some really large stakeholder accounts here that randomly go around and just giving out votes and mess things up a bit.
A really great way to start is to enter contests. The foodie community has them really often, as well as shadow hunters, let’s make a collage and others. Contests are a great way to make friends and get to know how some of the things go. There’s a lot of rules on hive, which is a good thing but it can be a little tricky to figure them out.
A contest helps get familiar with some of those!

Cheers I'm glad you are getting close to your 4th year man! It is important that hive is such a broad and diverse community. We get to expose ourselves to dozens of different things on a daily basis which is really awesome!
